Abstract
Date palm ( Phoenix dactylifera ) is cultivated in Cyprus mostly as an ornamental tree in house, hotel and public gardens. During spring and early summer of 2008, some date palms located in Nicosia and Larnaca districts showed symptoms typical of false smut disease.
