Σκοπός της εργασίας είναι να διερευνήσει την ανένταχτη και ανατρεπτική αισθητική «κατηγορία» του γκροτέσκου, την έκφανσή της στις εικαστικές τέχνες και κυρίως στην ζωγραφική, από την Αναγέννηση μέχρι τις αρχές του 20ου αιώνα, εποχή της δημιουργίας των Δεσποινίδων της Αβινιόν. Παράλληλα θα διερευνηθούν οι συνθήκες δημιουργίας των Δεσποινίδων και της πρόσληψής τους από το 1907 μέχρι σήμερα. Τέλος, θα επιχειρηθεί ένας συσχετισμός της αισθητικής του γκροτέσκου και των Δεσποινίδων της Αβινιόν, προκειμένου να διαπιστωθεί η ύπαρξη ενός ανοιχτού διαλόγου μεταξύ τους με σκοπό να φωτίσει κάποιες καινούριες και ενδεχομένως αναπάντεχες παραμέτρους της δημιουργικής διαδικασίας και της καλλιτεχνικής ελευθερίας του δημιουργού, που αναμφίβολα δεν ακολουθούν τις ορθολογιστικές ατραπούς των βάσεων της παραδοσιακής κλασικής επιστημολογίας. | Description: | This dissertation studies the aesthetics of the grotesque in relation to Pablo Picasso's work, Les Demoiselles d’Avignon(1907). The aim of this thesis is to explore the uncompromising and subversive aesthetic "category" of the grotesque, its expression in the visual arts and especially in painting, from the Renaissance to the early 20th century, which coincides with the time of the creation of the Demoiselles. The thesis will also investigate the conditions of the creative process of the Demoiselles and the evolution of their reception from 1907 until today.
