| dc.description | Background: Patient safety (PS) is currently high on the priorities of National Health Systems worldwide. Nurses have an important role to play in securing and improving PS with core actions in error prevention and health promotion. However, there is evidence that PS is not sufficiently integrated into undergraduate nursing programs. This does not help students to acquire scientific knowledge and develop strong skills in order to ensure the safety of patients throughout their professional lives. Aim: The aim of the study is to explore Cypriot and Greek nursing students’ perception in relation to the knowledge, attitudes and skills they have acquired in patient safety issues during their undergraduate education program. In the context of patient safety, the present study also explores students’ views of missed care, in terms of what they noticed during their clinical practice, as well as their perceptions with regard to the possible causes and potential consequences. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Εισαγωγή: Στις μέρες μας, η ασφάλεια των ασθενών (ΑΑ) βρίσκεται ψηλά στις προτεραιότητες των Εθνικών Συστημάτων Υγείας. Οι νοσηλευτές έχουν έναν σημαντικό ρόλο να διαδραματίσουν στη διασφάλιση και στη βελτίωση της AA. Ωστόσο, υπάρχουν στοιχεία που διαπιστώνουν ότι η ΑΑ δεν ενσωματώνεται επαρκώς στα προπτυχιακά προγράμματα σπουδών νοσηλευτικής. Συνεπώς, αυτό δεν βοηθά τους φοιτητές να αποκτήσουν επιστημονικές γνώσεις και να αναπτύξουν ισχυρές ικανότητες, προκειμένου να διασφαλίσουν την ασφάλεια των ασθενών καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια της επαγγελματικής τους ζωής. Σκοπός: Σκοπός της μελέτης είναι η διερεύνηση των απόψεων των προπτυχιακών φοιτητών νοσηλευτικής στην Κύπρο και την Ελλάδα σε σχέση με τις γνώσεις, τις στάσεις και τις δεξιότητες που έχουν λάβει για την ασφάλεια ασθενών μέσα από την εκπαίδευση τους. Επιπρόσθετα, μελετώνται και οι απόψεις των φοιτητών σε σχέση με τις παραλείψεις φροντίδας, οι οποίες εντάσσονται στο θεωρητικό πλαίσιο των νοσοκομειακών λαθών. | en_US |
