Abstract
Medication non-adherence (MNA) constitutes a complex health problem contributing to increased economic burden and poor health outcomes. Almost one in two patients with chronic conditions reports low adherence to their prescribed medication. The purpose of this scoping review was to identify the barriers associated with MNA and the interventions and techniques aiming to improve adherence among adult patients with chronic conditions with high MNA (asthma, hypertension, epilepsy, diabetes and cancer).
