Abstract: We present the inscription of a fibre Bragg grating (FBG) array in non-Transparent carbon coated optical fibre using the direct write, plane-by-plane femtosecond laser inscription method. Our application is targeting high temperature measurements in harsh environments. The grating spectra were characterized in reflection and the temperature response of the array was measured up to 160°C.
