| dc.description | The problems faced by bus users on a local level may vary. Among other things, the most important being finding bus stops and timetables, frustrate or even irritate the users. Based on this existing issues, there was a need for an application that will make the search and retrieval of these information easier, in order to reduce the hassle and irritation experienced by users. The purpose of this assignment is to research and present those specific problems regarding the use of the Cyprus buses, as well as to create a web application prototype that suggests and proposes ways by which to address these problems. Through action research, conducted via questionnaires and interviews with various bus users, these problems were identified and analyzed in order to establish specific design principles and guide the design of a prototype web application, as an attempt to provide appropriate solutions for them. Furthermore, through human-centered design methods, a prototype was created, evaluated by users - based on its functionality - and optimized to fit the specific user needs. This prototype was developed through the use of HTML5 and CSS3 technologies and was also evaluated and consequently updated according to the user requirements. Finally, following the research, design and evaluation it was inferred that the application suggested by the prototype, will be very useful to bus users, as it greatly facilitates them in searching and finding well-needed key information they are typically searching for, especially when compared to the existing information services. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Τα προβλήματα που αντιμετωπίζουν οι χρήστες λεωφορείων σε τοπικό επίπεδο ποικίλουν. Μεταξύ άλλων, τα πιο σημαντικά είναι η εξεύρεση των στάσεων των λεωφορείων και οι ώρες προσέλευσης τους σε αυτές, τα οποία δυσκολεύουν ή ακόμα εκνευρίζουν τους χρήστες. Με βάση τα υπάρχοντα προβλήματα δημιουργήθηκε η ανάγκη για μια εφαρμογή, η οποία θα διευκολύνει τον χρήστη στην αναζήτηση και εύρεση των πληροφοριών αυτών, έτσι ώστε να μειωθεί η ταλαιπωρία και ο εκνευρισμός. Η εργασία αυτή έχει σαν στόχο την έρευνα και την παρουσίαση συγκεκριμένων προβλημάτων που υπάρχουν στα λεωφορεία της Κύπρου καθώς και την δημιουργία πρωτότυπης διαδικτυακής εφαρμογής η οποία να εισηγείται τρόπους αντιμετώπισης των προβλημάτων αυτών. Μέσω έρευνας δράσης, η οποία περιλάμβανε διεξαγωγή ερωτηματολογίων και σύνταξη συνεντεύξεων με διάφορους χρήστες λεωφορείων, βρέθηκαν και αναλύθηκαν τα προβλήματα αυτά, με σκοπό να συσταθούν κατευθυντήριες γραμμές βάση των οποίων σχεδιάστηκε το πρωτότυπο της διαδικτυακής εφαρμογής, έτσι ώστε να αξιολογηθεί κατά πόσο παρέχει λύσεις σε αυτά. Στην συνέχεια, με μεθόδους ανθρωποκεντρικού σχεδιασμού, δημιουργήθηκε, αξιολογήθηκε από χρήστες - με βάση την ευχρηστία - και βελτιστοποιήθηκε ένα σχεδιαστικό πρωτότυπο ως πρόταση για ολοκληρωμένη εφαρμογή. Το πρωτότυπο αυτό αναπτύχθηκε με την χρήση της γλώσσας HTML5 και CSS3, το οποίο πέρασε επίσης από αξιολόγηση και αργότερα διαφοροποίηση με βάση την ανατροφοδότηση και τις απαιτήσεις τους. Με την αξιολόγηση του πρωτοτύπου αυτού, διαπιστώθηκε ότι η εφαρμογή καθίσταται πάρα πολύ χρήσιμη στους χρήστες λεωφορείου, λόγω του ότι τους διευκολύνει εξαιρετικά στην αναζήτηση και εξεύρεση των πληροφοριών, που είναι σημαντικές σε σχέση με τις ήδη προ-υπάρχουσες υπηρεσίες πληροφόρησης. | en_US |
