Description
"The scope of the Action is Europe’s rich heritage of archaeological monuments, historic buildings, cultural landscapes and artefacts. The Action aims to showcase high-quality quality content and raise awareness of its potential for citizens, educators, students and companies to re-use applications. A significant amount of content is already available on Europeana including texts, images, drawings plans, videos and 3D models from libraries, museums, archives, audio-visual archives and heritage organisations across Europe. The Action will increase the quality, discoverability and reusability of existing content. By enriching the metadata, users will be able to browse the collection and access high-quality images, texts and 3D objects licenced for re-use. Moreover, it will add new high-quality re-usable content for Archaeology available on Europeana, extending in this way the reach and relevance of the collection for users. Metadata enrichment, rights clearance and targeted digitisation will take place with the aim to increase the quality of available content. During the Action, resources to support metadata enrichment including multilingual vocabularies and enrichment services will be developed. These will be made available to the Europeana network of aggregators and data providers. Moreover, the use of multilingual Linked Open Data will be pursued to improve cross-border discovery of Archaeology for interested users. The Action will provide expert support to cultural institutions and offer training to increase take up of open access licenses, content and metadata quality, and the multilingual frameworks of Europeana. Lastly, it will contribute to raising awareness of the digital archaeological and architectural content available via Europeana and its potential for learning, research, the creative industries and enjoyment."
