Tsaltas, Dimitrios
Τσάλτας, Δημήτριος
Dimitris Tsaltas is Associate Professor of the Department of Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology and Food Science. He has a BSc in Agricultural Sciences and an MSc in Plant Protection from the Agricultural University of Athens. He gained his PhD from Imperial College London in Molecular Plant Pathology and continued his postdoctoral training at the University of Connecticut (USA) in Molecular Microbiology. He participated in many short and midterm training workshops for gas and liquid chromatography, polysaccharide analysis, genome analysis, and proteomic technology. He was an active member of various governing bodies and committees of the universities he was associated with, concerning academic and student matters. He worked at the Agricultural Research Institute in Nicosia (Cyprus) as a Research Advisor within the Crop Protection Department. His research interests are in plant-microbe interactions (at a molecular and biochemical level), biofilm formation by microorganisms, bacterial quorum sensing mechanism and the biological control of plant diseases.
