Abstract
This thesis object of study focuses on climate change and desertification. In the context of this subject this thesis aims to analyse climate changes and their impact on the planet. It analyses one of the main and most important effects, the desertification and desertification maps are compared with rainfall data to develop a relationship between them. Also, the aim is to relate the areas which are susceptible to risk of desertification with the development trend of settlements through maps urban areas and degradation areas.
In the methodology of this thesis will be present the procedures for the analysis of statistical data of rainfall and design areas prone to desertification. They will be presented in detail all the results of the statistical analysis of rainfall data. In planning it is going to use the geographical information system (GIS) which is a spatial data management system. Then comparison is made between dry and semi-dry regions with the most humid areas, in relation to the development trend of settlements.
Then it is going to present the final conclusions from the discussion of the results, which make comparisons of maps. The trend of desertification is directly related to rainfall, since where there is maximum rainfall the region is classified as wet or semi-dry and is slightly sensitive to the risk of desertification. While respectively in areas with little rainfall are characterized as dry and is critical to the risk of desertification.
