It serves as a bridge connecting the Latin American region, fostering responsible design practices through education and collaboration. Since the beginning in 2009, the BICeBé has set the highest standards and formed partnerships with schools, universities, biennials, and design associations across Latin America and beyond. These international alliances share common objectives: to promote the development of design and enhance its cultural, academic, and social impact. Each edition gathers prominent masters and leading professionals—both national and international—in Bolivia, creating an inclusive and equitable environment. This space highlights innovation, knowledge, and history as essential pillars, offering an ideal platform for reflection, continuous education, and the empowerment of new generations. In addition to its design-focused significance, the BICeBé holds a central place in Bolivia's cultural agenda. Recognized by the region’s Cultural Industries Markets, the biennial is a hub where design is approached through the lenses of social responsibility, development, and economic impact. For this reason, it attracts participation from notable academic, institutional, and business entities, which see the biennial as an optimal venue to project their vision and promote awareness of environmental and communicative challenges. BICeBé enables all participants to engage in one of the most significant spaces for creative, academic, and economic networking. A Global Celebration of Design In 2024, in preparation for its 2025 edition, the biennial adopts the name Bolivia Design and Poster Biennial BICeBé. This change marks the expansion of its scope, featuring not only two international calls and exhibitions but also the inclusion of a showcase dedicated to Bolivian design. This strategic decision enriches previous edition’s content and promotes sustainable contemporary design and best practices. It provides a reflective space and a platform for innovation, sustainability, technology, ancestral knowledge, and techniques that are both relevant and impactful. The biennial celebrates design as an ever-evolving discipline, offering new opportunities, fostering connections, and recognizing distinguished trajectories alongside emerging talents. The event’s diverse program includes an International Design Congress, workshops, talks, creative and academic encounters, and networking activities. What began as an initiative to unify Bolivian designers has grown into a global phenomenon connecting over 91 countries and drawing 2,000 participants to each edition. Commitment to Innovation and Sustainability As a member of the International Council of Design (ico-D), the BICeBé aligns its objectives with international guidelines and best practices. The International Poster Call addresses globally relevant themes, such as environmental sustainability, social equity, cultural diversity, inclusive design, accessibility, public safety, power abuse, resilience, and technological innovation. Through these efforts, the Bolivia Design and Poster Biennial BICeBé positions itself as a unique space for exchange, learning, and reflection. It drives design as a catalyst for change and development in the region and the world. The BICeBé is a festival designed to inspire and connect its attendees with the future of design. Here, design is not only lived and breathed but, most importantly, celebrated. | Award: | Selected | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.14279/35246 | Type: | Exhibitions | Affiliation : | Cyprus University of Technology | Publication Type: | Selected Artwork | Participation: | Biennale |
