Τα ερευνητικά ερωτήματα αφορούν, αφενός, το πώς η χρήση της εφαρμογής ΕΠ επηρεάζει την ανάπτυξη των προαναφερθέντων δεξιοτήτων και, αφετέρου, ποιες είναι οι αντιλήψεις και οι υποκειμενικές εμπειρίες των φοιτητών/τριών σχετικά με την ΕΠ ως εργαλείο μάθησης. Η έρευνα ανταποκρίνεται στην ανάγκη για εις βάθος ποιοτική μελέτη, καθώς η πλειονότητα των υφιστάμενων μελετών στη βιβλιογραφία βασίζεται σε ποσοτικές ή μικτές μεθόδους, οι οποίες δεν αναδεικνύουν ουσιαστικά τις εμπειρίες των συμμετεχόντων/ουσων. Επιπλέον, παρότι η πλήρως εμβυθιστική ΕΠ προσφέρει στους/ις χρήστες μία ιδιαίτερα ρεαλιστική εμπειρία μάθησης, η σε βάθος διερεύνηση των υποκειμενικών εμπειριών τους σε τέτοια περιβάλλοντα παραμένει περιορισμένη στη διεθνή βιβλιογραφία. Η μελέτη υιοθετεί ποιοτική μεθοδολογία με ερμηνευτική φαινομενολογική προσέγγιση και συλλογή δεδομένων μέσω ημιδομημένων συνεντεύξεων με 13 φοιτητές/τριες, οι οποίοι/ες συμμετείχαν σε σενάριο φροντίδας ηλικιωμένου ασθενούς στη μετεγχειρητική φάση, σε περιβάλλον χειρουργικής κλινικής. Τα αποτελέσματα δείχνουν ότι η ΕΠ βελτίωσε την κριτική σκέψη και τις δεξιότητες επίλυσης προβλημάτων, ενώ η συναισθηματική εμπειρία των συμμετεχόντων/ουσων ήταν αντιφατική. Παρά τις θετικές αντιδράσεις για την αυθεντικότητα της εμπειρίας, εντοπίστηκαν τεχνικές προκλήσεις και ανάγκη για περισσότερη καθοδήγηση. Συνολικά, η ΕΠ θεωρείται χρήσιμη για την εκπαίδευση, υπό την προϋπόθεση της βελτίωσης του τεχνολογικού εξοπλισμού και της παροχής σαφούς ανατροφοδότησης. | Description: | This research study evaluates a fully immersive virtual reality (VR) application, ViReTrain, aimed to understand its effect on the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills in nursing students in simulated clinical scenarios. The research questions focus a) on how the use of the VR application influences the development of the aforementioned skills and b) on the perceptions and subjective experiences of the students regarding VR as a learning tool. The study addresses the need for in-depth qualitative research studies, as the majority of existing studies are based on quantitative or mixed methods and do not sufficiently highlight participants’ experiences. Moreover, although fully immersive VR offers users a highly realistic learning experience, the in-depth exploration of their subjective experiences in such environments remains limited in the international literature. The study adopts a qualitative methodology using an interpretative phenomenological approach and collects data through semi-structured interviews with 13 nursing students who participated in a scenario involving the care of an elderly post-operative patient in a surgical ward setting. The results indicate that VR contributed to the improvement of critical thinking and problem-solving skills, while the emotional experience of the participants was mixed. Despite positive reactions regarding the authenticity of the experience, technical challenges and the need for more guidance were identified.
