Σκοπός: Ο Σκοπός της παρούσας ανασκόπησης είναι η διερεύνηση για τα οφέλη που προσφέρει ο μητρικός θηλασμός στην ανάπτυξη του εγκεφάλου σε πρόωρα βρέφη, νεογνά και σε μεταγενέστερη ηλικία των 6-11 χρονών. Υλικό και Μέθοδος: Η μέθοδος που χρησιμοποιήθηκε για την αναζήτηση της βιβλιογραφία ήταν από τις βάσεις δεδομένων: PubMed, SCOPUS και Παντογνώστης. Με τις λέξεις κλειδιά που χρησιμοποιήθηκαν ήταν breastfeeding and brain development, Breastfeeding and cognitive brain development, Breast milk lipids and infant brain development, Breast milk synthesis or nutrients AND infant brain development OR anatomic brain development and Breast milk proteins and brain development σε όλου τους πιθανούς συνδυασμούς. Τα κριτήρια ένταξης που χρησιμοποιήθηκαν ήταν τα τελευταία πέντε χρόνια. Αποτελέσματα: Η αναζήτηση κατέληξε σε 6 μελέτες, κατά την περίοδο 2016-2021, που πληρούσαν τα προκαθορισμένα κριτήρια. Μέσα από την αναζήτηση της βιβλιογραφίας διαπιστώθηκε πως ο μητρικός θηλασμός κατά την βρεφική και πρώιμη ηλικία είναι σημαντικός εφόσον βοηθά στην λειτουργία και στην ανάπτυξη του εγκεφάλου όπου είναι σημαντικό για την σωστή και γρήγορη ανάπτυξη στην μετέπειτα ζωή του παιδιού. Συμπεράσματα: Ο θηλασμός είναι η προτιμότερη μέθοδος για τα βρέφη και αυτό συνδέεται με τον μειωμένο κίνδυνο μητρικής νοσηρότητας και θνησιμότητας. Επίσης συνδέεται με την ανατομική ανάπτυξη του εγκεφάλου καθώς τα βρέφη τα οποία σιγά σιγά μεγαλώνουν διαφέρουν κατά πολύ σε λεκτικό επίπεδο άλλα και σε εκπαιδευτικό επίπεδο σε σχέση με παιδιά που έπαιρναν κάποιο άλλου είδους τροφής. | Description: | Aim: Breastfeeding is the ideal diet for infants in the anatomical development of the brain up to adolescence. Purpose: The purpose of this review is to investigate the benefits that breastfeeding offers to brain development in premature infants, newborns and at a later age of 6-11 years Material and Method: The method used to search the literature was from the databases: PubMed, SCOPUS and Omniscient. With the keywords used were breastfeeding and brain development, Breastfeeding and cognitive brain development, Breast milk lipids and infant brain development, Breast milk synthesis or nutrients AND infant brain development OR anatomic brain development and Breast milk proteins and brain development in all of them possible combinations. The inclusion criteria used were the last five years. Results: The search resulted in 6 studies, during the period 2016-2021, that met the predefined criteria. Through the search of the literature, it was found that breastfeeding during infancy and early childhood is important as it helps the function and development of the brain where it is important for the correct and rapid development in the later life of the child. Conclusions: Breastfeeding is the preferred method for infants and this is associated with a reduced risk of maternal morbidity and mortality.
