dc.descriptionIntroduction: The diagnosis of cancer in a child brings about a myriad of changes and reversals in its life that are mainly due to long-term hospitalization and undergoing various chemotherapy and painful procedures. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the use of alternative and complementary therapies such as music therapy, which aim to improve the quality of life of pediatric oncologists and to help children cope effectively with the stressors resulting from the disease and the processes required for it dealing with it. Purpose: To investigate the effect of music use on children with cancer undergoing treatment, mainly regarding physical and emotional well-being, pain and stress management, through a systematic review of research data. Material and Method: The material for performing this task was searched in the PubMed and Medline databases with the keywords: music, music therapy, effects, leukemia, childhood cancer, pediatric cancer, chemotherapy and the use of AND and OR for the combination of the above words. Results: 8 quantitative design studies were included. Research findings have shown that the use of music interventions may be particularly beneficial in physiological and psychosocial parameters in children with cancer undergoing treatment. Conclusion: Using music seems to have a positive effect on their psychosomatic well-being and pain management. There is a need to continue research at the international level in order to fully see the effects of the music effect and to emerge as a necessary complementary treatment in the care plan of pediatric oncology patients.en_US
dc.description.abstractΕισαγωγή: Η διάγνωση με καρκίνο σε ένα παιδί επιφέρει μία σωρεία αλλαγών και ανατροπών στη ζωή του που οφείλεται κυρίως στη μακροχρόνια νοσηλεία και υποβολή σε διάφορες χημειοθεραπείες και επίπονες διαδικασίες. Τα τελευταία χρόνια γίνεται έντονος λόγος για τη χρησιμοποίηση εναλλακτικών και συμπληρωματικών θεραπειών όπως η μουσικοθεραπεία, που αποσκοπούν στη βελτίωση της Ποιότητας ζωής των παιδογκολογικών ασθενών και στο να βοηθήσει τα παιδιά να αντιμετωπίσουν αποτελεσματικά τους στρεσογόνους παράγοντες που προκύπτουν από τη νόσο και τις διαδικασίες που απαιτούνται για την αντιμετώπιση της. Σκοπός: Η διερεύνηση της επίδρασης της χρήσης μουσικής σε παιδιά με καρκίνο που βρίσκονται σε φάση θεραπείας, κυρίως όσον αφορά σε παραμέτρους της φυσικής και συναισθηματικής ευεξίας, στη διαχείριση του πόνου και του άγχους, μέσα από συστηματική ανασκόπηση ερευνητικών δεδομένων. Υλικό και Μέθοδος: Η αναζήτηση του υλικού για την διεκπεραίωση της εργασίας αυτής έγινε στις βάσεις δεδομένων PubMed και Medline με τις λέξεις – κλειδιά: music, music therapy, effects, leukemia, childhood cancer, pediatric cancer, chemotherapy και τη χρήση των εντολών AND και OR για το συνδυασμό των πιο πάνω λέξεων. Αποτελέσματα: συμπεριλήφθηκαν 8 έρευνες ποσοτικού σχεδιασμού. Τα ευρήματα των ερευνών έδειξαν ότι η χρήση μουσικών παρεμβάσεων ενδέχεται να είναι ιδιαίτερα επωφελείς σε φυσιολογικές και ψυχοσυναισθηματικές παραμέτρους στα παιδιά με καρκίνο που βρίσκονται σε φάση θεραπείας. Συμπέρασμα: Η χρήση μουσικής φαίνεται να παρουσιάζει θετική επίδραση στη ψυχοσωματική τους ευεξία και στη διαχείριση του πόνου. Υπάρχει αναγκαιότητα για συνέχιση της έρευνας σε διεθνές επίπεδο, προκειμένου να διαφανούν πλήρως τα αποτελέσματα από την επίδραση της μουσικής και να αναδειχτεί ως μια απαραίτητη συμπληρωματική θεραπεία στο πλάνο φροντίδας παιδογκολογικών ασθενών που βρίσκονται σε φάση θεραπεία.en_US
