| dc.description | This thesis aims at understanding the basic principles of Geometric Design of a Motorway. Through the literature review, the concept of road is analyzed first and foremost as shown by the Cypriot motorway design regulations of 1992 and 1997. The speeds used in the design of a road, the longitudinal slope and the super elevation are analysed. In addition, the concepts of the contours, the equilateral line, and the final yield of the polygonal line were explained. Then, the horizontal alignment, horizontal curve, spiral curve and chainage were explained. Furthermore, in the next chapter the vertical the concepts of altitude, axis of the road in relation to altitude and zero line were analyzed. After, the concepts of the super elevations of the road boundaries, cross-sections and visibility elements were explained. Finally, based on all the above, a geometric design was carried out on a road section between Paphos and Polis Chrysochous, where the procedures of each stage are examined based on the above-mentioned Design criteria. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Η παρούσα διπλωματική μελέτη αποσκοπεί στην κατανόηση των βασικών αρχών Γεωμετρικού Σχεδιασμού ενός Αυτοκινητόδρομου. Μέσω της βιβλιογραφικής ανασκόπησης αναλύεται η έννοια του δρόμου, όπως αυτή δίνεται μέσα από τους Κυπριακούς κανονισμούς σχεδίασης αυτοκινητόδρομου του 1992 και 1997. Μετέπειτα, μελετώνται, μεταξύ άλλων, οι ταχύτητες, που χρησιμοποιούνται στο σχεδιασμό ενός δρόμους, η κατά μήκος κλίση και η επίκλιση. Επιπλέον, επεξηγήθηκαν οι έννοιες των ισοϋψών, της ισοκλινούς γραμμής, και της τελικής απόδοσης της πολυγωνικής γραμμής. Ακολούθως, έγινε αναλυτική εξήγηση της οριζοντιογραφίας, της οριζοντιογραφικής καμπύλης, της κλωθοειδούς καμπύλης, και της χιλιομέτρησης. Περαιτέρω, στο επόμενο κεφάλαιο αναφέρθηκε η μηκοτομή, όπου αναλύθηκαν οι έννοιες των υψομέτρων, της ερυθράς, και της μηδενικής γραμμής. Στη συνέχεια, αναλύθηκαν οι έννοιες των επικλίσεων των οριογραμμών, των διατομών και των στοιχείων ορατότητας. Εν τέλει, βάσει και της βιβλιογραφικής ανασκόπησης, διεξήχθη γεωμετρικός σχεδιασμός σε τμήμα οδικού δικτύου μεταξύ της πόλης Πάφου και της Πόλης Χρυσοχούς στο οποίο εξετάζονται οι διαδικασίες του κάθε σταδίου με βάση τα προαναφερθέντα κριτήρια του Σχεδιασμού. | en_US |
