Abstract
The atmosphere as a complex environment includes a wide variety of particles. The variability of atmospheric particles due to their composition or concentration, constitute an important risk prevention parameter because they have a negative impact on climate change and human health. Moreover, this study aims to identify the particles that can be found in the Limassol area, using remote sensing techniques. For instance, the Lidar technique (Light Detection and Ranging) and the CIMEL sun-photometer. Furthermore, HYSPLIT model was used to identify the exact origin of several layers in the atmosphere and MODIS (Terra / Aqua) satellite images showed focal fires. In addition, radiosonde technique was used to determine the atmospheric boundary layer. The current thesis presents the results of data obtained during May, June and July.
