Biography
Aspasia Papadima is an Associate Professor in the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts at Cyprus University of Technology. She is the founder and coordinator of the Language and Graphic Communication Research Lab (www.lgcrl.com). Formerly, she worked as a graphic designer in creative and advertising agencies in Greece, as an art director in the field of advertising in Cyprus and she taught for ten years in private tertiary education in Cyprus. She works both as a graphic design consultant and a graphic artist. Her design work has been awarded in global competitions and shown at a number of international design exhibitions. Her research interests include typographic design, typographic rendering of the Cypriot dialect, visual language and technology, ephemeral design and vernacular typography, and urban graphic language. Her research work has been presented in conferences worldwide and published in international journals. She is a member of the Cyprus Association of Graphic Designers and Illustrators and the Hellenic Semiotics Society. Η Ασπασία Παπαδήμα είναι Αναπληρώτρια Καθηγήτρια στο Τμήμα Πολυμέσων και Γραφικών Τεχνών του Τεχνολογικού Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου. Έχει ιδρύσει και συντονίζει το ερευνητικό εργαστήριο για τη Γλώσσα και τη Γραφιστική Επικοινωνία (www.lgcrl.com). Στο παρελθόν, εργάστηκε σε δημιουργικά και διαφημιστικά γραφεία στην Ελλάδα και ως καλλιτεχνική διευθύντρια στον τομέα της Διαφήμισης στην Κύπρο και δίδαξε επί δεκαετία στην ιδιωτική τριτοβάθμια εκπαίδευση της Κύπρου. Εξασκεί τη γραφιστική ως σύμβουλος σε σημαντικές αναθέσεις σχεδιασμού. Το ερευνητικό της έργο έχει παρουσιαστεί σε αναγνωρισμένα διεθνή συνέδρια και δημοσιευθεί σε επιστημονικά περιοδικά, ενώ η γραφιστική και καλλιτεχνική δουλειά της έχει βραβευθεί και έχει παρουσιαστεί σε εκθέσεις στην Κύπρο και στο εξωτερικό. Τα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα περιλαμβάνουν τον τυπογραφικό σχεδιασμό, τη γραπτή απόδοση της Κυπριακής διαλέκτου, το εφήμερο ντιζάιν και την τυπογραφία του καθημερινού και το αστικό τυπογραφικό τοπίο. Είναι μέλος της Ένωσης Γραφιστών και Εικονογράφων Κύπρου και της Ελληνικής Σημειωτικής Εταιρίας.
