Description
Climate change, biodiversity conservation and socio-economic development are key challenges facing the agroforestry sector in Africa. The EU-funded AfroGrow project aims to promote sustainable agroforestry practices across the African Union, transforming agroforestry systems into resilient, multifunctional landscapes that enhance food security, mitigate climate change and foster inclusive growth. Through a network of six living labs, the project will facilitate participatory research and innovation, enabling local communities, researchers and policymakers to co-develop tailored solutions. These living labs will serve as hubs for knowledge exchange, promoting best practices in agroforestry management while also strengthening the Africa-EU partnership. Additionally, the project will develop regional suitability maps for local plants and animals with a strong emphasis on gender equality and social inclusion.
