Description: In its traditional sense, heritage, whether tangible or intangible, can be defined as monuments, cultural and natural sites, museum collections, archives, libraries, manuscripts (to name a few) or practices that a society inherits from its past, and intends to preserve and transmit to future generations. The significance of preservation can be seen in the efforts of international organizations to document important structures and sites. UNESCO, ICOMOS, The European Commission, CIPA, World Museums and Libraries networks have called for all national and international organizations that are responsible for archiving cultural-heritage objects and sites to document the past using methods that not only include traditional but also newer, digital innovative technologies.
