Title: | Real exchange rate variability and the choice of exchange rate regime by developing countries | Authors: | Savvides, Andreas | metadata.dc.contributor.other: | Σαββίδης, Αντρέας | Major Field of Science: | Social Sciences | Field Category: | Economics and Business | Issue Date: | 1990 | Source: | Journal of International Money and Finance Volume 9, Issue 4, December 1990, Pages 440-454 | Journal: | Journal of International Money and Finance | Abstract: | This paper draws together two distinct strands of the exchange rate literature. It proposes that real exchange rate variability and the choice of exchange rate regime are jointly determined. I test this claim by estimating a simultaneous limited-dependent variable model, with data from a cross section of developing countries during the recent floating period. Drawing on the relevant exchange rate literature, the paper examines a number of exogenous determinants of exchange rate variability and the choice of exchange rate regime. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.14279/14711 | ISSN: | 02615606 | DOI: | 10.1016/0261-5606(90)90021-Q | Rights: | © 1990 Elsevier | Type: | Article | Affiliation : | Oklahoma State University | Publication Type: | Peer Reviewed |
