Since 1995, Dr Nicos Souleles is an academic in art and design in Higher Education. He worked at universities in Australia, England, and the United Arab Emirates and in recent years worked in Cyprus. He served as a course leader, a programme coordinator (undergraduate and postgraduate), and head of a department, and served as external examiner at the universities of East London and Liverpool John Moores in the UK. Presently he is an elected member of the Board of Governors at Cyprus University of Technology (CUT).

He has taught several subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including research methods, multimedia design, typography and social design. He delivers the only cross-disciplinary and cross-departmental unit/module of studies for final year learners at CUT, where groups of students from different departments work collaboratively to address social challenges.

Dr Nicos Souleles has extensive expertise in curriculum development, quality control and accreditation processes, and due to this experience he is currently serving a third term as an elected member of CUT's Quality Control Committee. He is also a member of the Accreditation Network of the European University of Technology (EUT+) comprising a consortium of eight universities in Europe. His research interests cover educational technology, technology-enhanced learning in art and design, design education and design for social change and social innovation.

Together with a group of friends and partners, he co-ordinates the research lab ‘Art + Design: elearning lab- Design for social change’ with a focus on technology-enhanced learning, design education, design for social change, social innovation and entrepreneurship. The lab is a member of the DESIS network and is engaged with funded European projects in areas that include multiliteracies, curriculum development for the Third Sector, and cultural and arts entrepreneurship for marginalised women. -- www.elearningartdesign.org
