dc.descriptionIntroduction: Palliative care is a key element in taking care of people with life-threating illnesses. Not only does it contribute to the psychological difficulties that a patient will face but also to the physical. It helps to provide a better quality of life for the patient, especially in the last remaining years of his life. Aim: The purpose of the below literature review is to examine how palliative care affects the intensity and controls the symptom of patients with terminal cancer but also how this type of care affects the quality of their life. Material and Method: The method that used was the research of the relevant Greek and international literature in databases, such as EMBASE, PUBMED, CI-NAHL with specific keywords ( palliative care OR palliative supportive care OR end of life care OR terminal care) AND ( symptom relief OR symptom control OR symptom reduction) AND( pediatric cancer OR children with cancer) AND (quality of life) in all possible combinations. Results: The research concluded in 5 studies for the period 2013-2023, which met the predefined criteria. Based on the studies, it is clear that palliative care not only helps in reducing the intensity of the patient’s symptoms such as pain, shortness of breath, sleep disorder, nausea, but also improves the quality of their life. Conclusions: Based on the literature research it was found that palliative care plays important role for the treatment of life-threatening diseases. Introducing palliative care practices, especially at the early stage of a disease, leads to positive effects in regards to the intensity and control of the patient’s symptoms for a better quality of life.en_US
dc.description.abstractΕισαγωγή: Η παρηγορητική φροντίδα αποτελεί βασικό συστατικό στην φροντίδα σε άτομα με απειλητική για τη ζωή ασθένεια. Συμβάλει και βοήθα στην ψυχολογική αλλά και σωματική δυσκολία που θα αντιμετωπίσει ο ασθενείς όπως αντίστοιχα και στην ποιότητα ζωής που θα έχει, ιδιαίτερα, στο τελευταίο χρόνο ζωής που του απομένει. Σκοπός: σκοπός της παρούσας ανασκόπησης ήταν να εξετάσει την επίδραση της Παρηγορητικής Φροντίδας στην ένταση και έλεγχο των συμπτωμάτων των ασθενών με κακοήθεια καθώς και την ποιότητα ζωής τους. Υλικό και Μέθοδος: Η μέθοδος που χρησιμοποιήθηκε ήταν η αναζήτηση της σχετικής ελληνικής και διεθνούς βιβλιογραφίας σε βάσεις δεδομένων (EMBASE, PUBMED, CI-NAHL) με λέξεις κλειδιά (palliative care OR palliative supportive care OR end of life care OR terminal care ) και (symptom relief OR symptom control OR symptom reduction) και (pediatric cancer OR children with cancer) και (quality of life) σε όλους τους πιθανούς συνδυασμούς. Αποτελέσματα: Η αναζήτηση κατέληξε σε 5 μελέτες, κατά την περίοδο 2013-2023, που πληρούσαν τα προκαθορισμένα κριτήρια. Έχει διαφανεί πως η επίδραση της παρηγορητικής φροντίδας όντως βοηθά στην ένταση των συμπτωμάτων όπως τον πόνο, τη δύσπνοια, τη διαταραχή ύπνου, ναυτία αλλά και στην βελτίωση της ποιότητας ζωής τους. Συμπεράσματα: Μέσα από την αναζήτηση της βιβλιογραφίας διαπιστώθηκε πως η παρηγορητική φροντίδα έχει ιδιαίτερη σημασία στη θεραπεία απειλητικών για τη ζωή ασθενειών. Έτσι μέσα από την ένταξη της, κυρίως στην αρχή της ασθένειας υπάρχει θετικός αντίκτυπος σχετικά με την ένταση και έλεγχό των συμπτωμάτων, καθώς οι ασθενείς έχουν μια καλύτερη ποιότητα ζωής.en_US
