Σκοπός της έρευνας είναι να μελετήσει πώς τα ίδια τα ΜΚΔ διαμεσολαβούν και κατασκευάζουν τη μεταθανάτια ψηφιακή παρουσία και ταυτότητα, καθώς και πώς οι χρήστ(ρι)ες αντιλαμβάνονται αυτή τη διαμεσολάβηση. Η έρευνα δεν εστιάζει σε μία πλατφόρμα, αλλά σε περισσότερες, ούτως ώστε να γίνει συγκριτική ανάλυση. Η έρευνα χαρακτηρίζεται ως ποιοτική και χρησιμοποιήθηκαν δύο διαφορετικές πρακτικές για να απαντηθούν τα ερευνητικά ερωτήματα – ποιοτική ανάλυση περιεχομένου και συνεντεύξεις. Συνοπτικά, μέσα από τη μελέτη του τρέχοντος θέματος, η έρευνα καταλήγει στο συμπέρασμα ότι το διαδίκτυο αποτελεί έναν χώρο σκόπιμης μνημόνευσης, όμως η κάθε πλατφόρμα διαφέρει ως προς τον τρόπο με τον οποίο προσεγγίζει και πλαισιώνει το θέμα. Οι πλατφόρμες εισήγαγαν ένα τόσο ιδιωτικό θέμα στη σφαίρα της εμπορευματοποίησης. Η εκτεταμένη χρήση των μέσων κοινωνικής δικτύωσης, επέτρεψε τις ιδιωτικές ανησυχίες του θανάτου και του πένθους να διαπεράσουν τη δημόσια σφαίρα – μεταμοντέρνα αντίληψη – με αποτέλεσμα να αρχίσει να καταρρίπτεται η διάκριση μεταξύ του δημόσιου και του ιδιωτικού θανάτου. Οι απόψεις για τη μεταθανάτια ψηφιακή παρουσία και ταυτότητα διίστανται – τα άτομα που βίωσαν τη διαδικτυακή μνημόνευση είχαν μια θετικότερη στάση απέναντι στις συγκεκριμένες σελίδες/λογαριασμούς σε σχέση με τα άτομα που δεν είχαν μια τέτοια εμπειρία. Από τη μία πλευρά η μνημόνευση είναι χρήσιμη – να μην ξεχάσουν την/τον νεκρή/ό – από την άλλη είναι αχρείαστη, εφόσον δεν βοηθάει τα άτομα να προχωρήσουν τη ζωή τους. Ωστόσο, υπάρχει η ανησυχία και ο φόβος να μην χαθεί τελικά η φυσική διάσταση και να ζούμε εξ ολοκλήρου στον ψηφιακό κόσμο. | Description: | Our relations with the internet, and more specifically, with social media are becoming more complex and the boundaries between the physical and digital worlds are becoming more complicated. The aim of the research is to study how the social media mediates and constructs post-mortem digital presence and identity, as well as how users perceive this mediation. The research does not focus on one platform, but on more, to make a comparative analysis. The research is classified as qualitative and two different practices were used to answer the research questions – qualitative content analysis and interviews. In summary, through the study of the current topic, the research concludes that the internet is a place of purposeful memorialization, but each platform differs in the way it approaches and frames the topic. Platforms introduced such a private matter into the sphere of commercialization. The widespread use of social media has allowed the private concerns of death and mourning to penetrate the public sphere – postmodern perception-and the distinction between public and private death has begun to be broken. Opinions on post-mortem digital presence and identity differ – people who experienced online memorialization had a more positive attitude towards these pages / accounts than people who did not have such an experience. On the one hand commemoration is useful – not to forget the deceased – on the other hand it is unnecessary in case it does not help individuals to move on with their lives.
