Title: | Energetics and stability of diamondlike amorphous carbon | Authors: | Kelires, Pantelis C. | metadata.dc.contributor.other: | Κελίρης, Παντελής | Major Field of Science: | Social Sciences | Keywords: | Carbon;Energy | Issue Date: | 1992 | Source: | Physical Review Letters,1992, vol. 68, no.12, pp. 1854-1857 | Volume: | 68 | Issue: | 12 | Start page: | 1854 | End page: | 1857 | Journal: | Physical review letters | Abstract: | Simulations of diamondlike amorphous carbon formed by quenching the liquid under high pressure indicate that two distinctly different dense phases exist. The as-quenched phase is metastable and mostly fourfold coordinated. Upon annealing, it converts into a more stable structure with the majority of atoms having threefold coordination. Both structures are consistent with experimental findings. The annealed phase is clearly distinguished from the low-coordinated network of evaporated ±-C. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.14279/1461 | ISSN: | 10797114 | DOI: | 10.1103/PhysRevLett.68.1854 | Rights: | © American Physical Society | Type: | Article | Affiliation: | University of Crete | Affiliation : | University of Crete | Publication Type: | Peer Reviewed |
