| dc.description | Identity construction and the way individuals are represented in different environments are a matter of social psychology that has often been a research topic in this field. Searching for the methods used by the people of a society, a network or a social group to present themselves, encourages researchers to identify problematic identities or even justify some tactics and behaviors in their construction and narrative. With this quantitative research and the content analysis of users of geospatial applications of dating, it appears that the Cypriots in the Grindr social dating app that relate to acquaintances of men interested in getting to know other men, are directly influenced by the stigma and are in constant identity negotiation. The results help us to understand and then explain how they are influenced by these elements to build, share and display their identity within this network. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Η κατασκευή ταυτότητας και ο τρόπος με την οποία τα άτομα την αφηγούνται σε διάφορα περιβάλλοντα τα οποία βρίσκονται, αποτελεί ένα θέμα της κοινωνικής ψυχολογίας το οποίο έχει τεθεί πολλές φορές ως ερευνητικό ζήτημα στον τομέα αυτό. Η αναζήτηση για τις μεθόδους που χρησιμοποιούν τα άτομα μιας κοινωνίας, ενός δικτύου ή μιας κοινωνικής ομάδας για να παρουσιάσουν τον εαυτό τους, παρακινεί το ενδιαφέρον των ερευνητών στον εντοπισμό προβληματικών ταυτοτήτων ή ακόμα και την αιτιολόγηση μερικών τακτικών και συμπεριφορών ως προς την κατασκευή και αφήγηση τους. Με την ποσοτική αυτή έρευνα και την ανάλυση περιεχομένου προφίλ χρηστών γεω-κοινωνικών εφαρμογών γνωριμιών, προκύπτει πως οι Κύπριοι στην εφαρμογή Grindr που αφορά γνωριμίες ανδρών που ενδιαφέρονται να γνωρίζουν άλλους άντρες, είναι άμεσα επηρεασμένοι από το στίγμα και βρίσκονται σε συνεχή διαπραγμάτευση με την ταυτότητα τους. Τα αποτελέσματα μας βοηθούν να κατανοήσουμε και έπειτα να εξηγήσουμε πως επηρεάζονται από αυτά τα στοιχεία για να κατασκευάσουν, να αφηγηθούν και να προβάλουν την ταυτότητα τους μέσα στο δίκτυο αυτό. | en_US |
