| dc.description | Introduction: One of the speech characteristics which used for definition the speech flow is the speech rate. There are various methods to measure the speech rate. However speech rate is usually calculated in words or syllables per minute. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to calculate the speech rate in words and in syllables for Cypriot- Greek speaking children. Methods: For the purpose of this study 20 children who were born in Cyprus and they have as native language the Cypriot dialect were audiotaped. They separate in 2 groups; the first one had children between 6.6 until 7.6 old including 7 girls and 3 boys and the second group from 7.7 until 8.7 old including 5 girls and 5 boys. In order for the researcher to collect the speech samples, a story book and a list of questions to guide the conversation, were used. The speech samples were collected, were analyzed with the use of program Wave Pad Audio Editing Software 6.55 by NCH. Results: The children included in the first group in average they produced 219 syllables and 111 words while the children of second age group, produced 232 syllables and 121 words in one minute. The mean of syllables were produced by the girls are 224 syllables and 115 words, than the boys that said 226 syllables and 116 words per minute. Conclusion: Results suggest that the age might affect the number of syllables and words produced, as one Cypriot child age 7.7 until 8.7 old, talk faster against 13 syllables per minute than one child 6.6 until 7.6 old. Furthermore, it seems that the gender also can affects speech rate, given the fact that the girls appears faster in terms of speech rate rather that the boys. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Εισαγωγή: Ένα από τα χαρακτηριστικά της ομιλίας που χρησιμοποιήθηκε για τον ορισμό της ευχέρειας λόγου είναι ο ρυθμός ομιλίας. Υπάρχουν διάφορες μέθοδοι υπολογισμού του ρυθμού ομιλίας, συνηθέστερα όμως, μετριέται σε λέξεις ή συλλαβές ανά λεπτό. Σκοπός: Να βρεθούν μετρήσεις, από δείγματα αυθόρμητης ομιλίας για τυπικά αναπτυσσόμενα Κυπριόπουλα παιδιά ως προς το ρυθμό ομιλίας. Υλικό-μέθοδος: Το δείγμα ήταν τυχαίο και περιελάμβανε 20 παιδιά που γεννήθηκαν στην Κύπρο και έχουν μητρική γλώσσα την Κυπριακή διάλεκτο. Χωρίστηκαν σε δύο ομάδες, η πρώτη είχε παιδιά ηλικίας 6.6 μέχρι 7.6 ετών με 7 κορίτσια και 3 αγόρια και η δεύτερη παιδιά από 7.7 μέχρι 8.7 ετών συμπεριλαμβάνοντας 5 αγόρια και 5 κορίτσια. Για την εκμαίευση δείγματος ομιλίας η ερευνήτρια χρησιμοποίησε ένα παραμύθι και λίστα ερωτήσεων για να καθοδηγεί τη συζήτηση της με το παιδί. Το δείγματα που συλλέχθηκαν, αναλύθηκαν με τη χρήση του προγράμματος WavePad Audio Editing Software 6.55 by NCH. Αποτελέσματα: Τα παιδιά της πρώτης ομάδας κατά μέσο όρο είπαν 219 συλλαβές και 111 λέξεις ενώ τα παιδιά της δεύτερης ηλικιακής ομάδας παρήγαγαν 232 συλλαβές και 121 λέξεις μέσα σε ένα λεπτό. Επίσης τα κορίτσια πρόφεραν μέσο όρο 224 συλλαβές και 115 λέξεις ενώ τα αγόρια 226 συλλαβές και 116 λέξεις το λεπτό. Συμπεράσματα: H ηλικία επηρεάζει το ρυθμό που παράγονται οι συλλαβές και οι λέξεις αφού ένα Κυπριόπουλο παιδί ηλικίας 7.7 έως 8.7 ετών, αρθρώνει πιο γρήγορα κατά 13 συλλαβές το λεπτό από ένα παιδί 6.6-7.6 ετών. Ακόμη, επηρεάζει και το φύλο το ρυθμό ομιλίας, με τα κορίτσια να εμφανίζουν πιο γρήγορο ρυθμό κατά μέσο όρο 2 συλλαβές ανά λεπτό. | en_US |
