EARTH 2.0 | Created in response to an invitation to participate in the 5th Emirates International Poster Festival (EIPF), this poster aligns with the festival’s central theme, ‘Design for Climate Change.’ Global warming, largely attributed to human activities and greenhouse gas emissions, is a widely acknowledged fact. SAFELY HELD | "Safely Held" was a program that featured three exhibitions and a series of events scheduled from May to December 2023. In response to Pylon's invitation to explore ways of making contemporary art more accessible and relevant to a broader audience, curators Thalia Spyridou, Evagoras Vanezis, and Elena Parpa have put together three exhibitions and a series of events. Their goal is to enhance public engagement with art and its practice. The Safely Held program revolves around the concept of "structure" and how it can be perceived as malleable, allowing for a reevaluation of established narratives. This engaging program unfolded over the course of seven months, from May to December 2023. | 2022-2023 |
Take a piece of peace, please | ANOTHER LIFE Posters dedicated to the recent changes in the world, both negative and positive. In 2022 Russia has invaded Ukraine causing the rapid escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War. Although the war began in 2014, the invasion has created a massive shock in Europe, giving rise to the fastest growing refugee crisis since WW II, and at the same time Russia being accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Living and experiencing the era of information, disinformation and the media portrayal of the war, provides opportunities for various interpretations and multiple narratives of the events. The Russo-Ukrainian situation overshadowed entirely the events in Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Iraq, Libya, Palestine, Syria, and Yemen and the media deservingly have been criticised for racial bias. We all know though that there’s always only one choice. And that one is peace. People know that: political leaders don’t. / Curator Serge Serov | 2023-2024 |
