My educational background is in civil and structural engineering, in the field of assessment and retrofitting of existing structures. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Cyprus (UCY) in 2011. I continued my studies at the National Technical University of Athens and I earned my MSc in "Analysis and Design of Earthquake Resistant Structures" (ADERS). Then I studied for a PhD degree at the Cyprus University of Technology in the Department of Civil Engineering and Geomatics. I received my PhD in June 2021. My supervisor is Professor Christis Z. Chrysostomou. The main subject of my doctorate thesis is the seismic retrofitting of masonry-infilled RC frames using innovating composite materials such as Textile-Reinforced mortar (TRM). During my PhD studies, several aspects were examined, and several journal articles were published under journals with high impact factors (please refer to my CV for the full publication list). During my research, I focused on the assessment of existing RC and masonry buildings under seismic loading and on the enhancement of their response through conventional and innovative retrofitting (combined seismic and energy upgrading), analysis and design of structures subjected to earthquake loads, 2D detailed Finite Element Modeling of RC and masonry structures. I am a proficient user of DIANA FEA, a nonlinear analysis software and of SCADA-pro, an analysis and design software. Furthermore, my research contribution also expands to reviewing activities for high impact journals (bulletin of earthquake engineering and structures journal). From April 2021 until the end of May 2022, I was a member of the team of the project entitled "Novel integrated approach for seismic and energy upgrading of existing buildings" (SupERB). From the end of May 2022 until today I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the project entitled "ISTOS" (Centre for natural hazard management). From April 2023 until now I am a post-Doctoral Researcher at Eratosthenes Center of Excellence (CoE) in the Resilient Department focuses on Risk assessment of existing buildings and in risk mitigation for natural events using Satellite Remote Sensing. During the last year, I prepared proposals as a coordinator for call excellence hubs under the pillar sustainable RTDI system with high score (13.95 out of 15) in the field of combined seismic and energy upgrading of existing buildings. I have participated in the preparation of research proposals (details of the projects are found in my enclosed CV). My academic experience does not rely only on the research aspect but also on my work experience as a module coordinator (from September 2021) at the Cyprus university of Technology and as a visiting lecturer (current position from September 2022) in Neapolis University. Besides my research and academic experience, through the last years I have gained also work experience as a design engineer and a site engineer. I worked as a Site Engineer by planning and overseeing important buildings in Cyprus during their rehabilitation and retrofitting as follows: "Restoration/restructuring and extension of the Limassol Public University Library " and "Limassol Agora". Currently I am a technical advisor (site engineer) at the "Tuzla Mosque" in Larkana and "Orounta Mosque" in Nicosia, which are projects under the United Nations Development Program. Finally, I am a member of the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ΕΤΕΚ) and of the Cyprus Association of Civil Engineers (SPOLMIK). From April 2021 I am a member of special Committees of theCyprus Association of Civil Engineers. Also, I am a member in charity organizations: “Funraising Charity Organization” and “Development Foundation TrakArt”. In March 2022, I was given a Female personality award of the Cyprus University of Technology entitled "To square the circle".
