Dr. Christos P. Loizou (Ph.D., M.Sc., B.Sc.) is an adjunct Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Informatics of the Cyprus University of Technology, Cyprus. He has more than 25 years’ of experience in medical imaging and video analysis and processing. He has been involved in different projects in the above area funded by the research Promotion Foundation of Cyprus the EU and the National Institutes of Health (NIH-USA), with a total funding in the range of 12,5 million Euro. He has published 37 journal publications, 70 conference papers, 5 books, and 12 chapters in books in these areas (number of citations more than 3000, h-index 26, i-10 index 48, and RG score 48.67). He was a supervisor of a number of Ph.D. (11), M.Sc. (35) and B.Sc. (65) students in computer image, video analysis and telemedicine. His research interests include medical imaging, video analysis and processing; motion analysis; signal processing; pattern recognition; voice stress signal analysis; biosignal analysis in ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging and video and computer applications in medicine. He has extensive experience in image/video pre-processing, despeckling, segmentation and texture analysis. Dr. Loizou is a Senior Member of the IEEE, and serves as a reviewer in many IEEE Transactions journals and as a chair or co-chair in many IEEE conferences. He is also an Associate Researcher at the Institute of Neurology and Genetics, Nicosia, Cyprus a co-founder and member of the e-Health Laboratory of the University of Cyprus.
