Ghost Town Typeface | Ghost Town is a condensed DISPLAY typeface designed with Vassilis Georgiou, released in 2020, with Greek and extended Latin character support, consisting of two styles: Ghost Town Thin and Ghost Town Thin Oblique. The typeface began as an offspring of an ongoing research project that attempts to collect, preserve, organise, study and share the visual story-path of the poetry-literature book covers, in Cyprus within the sphere of visual communication Ghost Town’s source of inspiration, is the lettering on the cover of a 1966 Cypriot book, titled «Ονειροπόληση πάνω στα τείχη της Αμμοχώστου» by poet Theodosis Pierides and was designed by the Greek artist and Illustrator Dimos Skoulakis. The font ⛫ takes its name from the description that was given to Varosha — an abandoned region within the city of Famagusta Cyprus, that stays uninhibited and off limits since the Turkish invasion in Cyprus in 1974. The project was funded by the Semiotics and Visual Communication Lab of the Cyprus University of Technology. | 2020-2021 |
Το βιβλίο Spirit: afterthoughts of a durational performance (πως η/ο performer και οι συντελεστές βίωσαν την όλη διαδικασία), χτίζει πάνω στην ίδια ιδέα του χρόνου, με την οποία πραγματεύεται και η παράσταση. Προτείνει μια χρονική διάρκεια ανάγνωσης του βιβλίου, γνωρίζοντας ο,τι ο κάθε αναγνώστης/τρια θα βιώσει τα κείμενα, στο δικό του/της χρόνο. | empty |
Kaimakli Gardens | Sociologist Christiana Stylianou and photographer Nicos Philippou engaged in a visual ethnographic process in the historically working class suburb of Kaimakli documenting local’s relationship with their yards, gardens and plants with an emphasis on those they use in their cooking. The process accounted for the changing demographics of Kaimakli and it’s enrichment with a community of artists and intellectuals that moved into the suburb during the last couple of decades as well as migrants fleeing war and economic hardship elsewhere. The material gathered in the process is collected here in the form of this “DIY” chapbook which functions as a poetic inventory of these plants as well as the stories people share about them and as a tribute to our collective love affair with gardening. | 2020-2021 |
