Pavlos Symeou is an Associate Professor in the Department of Hotel and Tourism Management. He obtained his PhD from Judge Business School of the University of Cambridge with concentration on business economics, whilst he also obtained degrees from the London School of Economics and the University of Cyprus. His doctoral thesis examined whether economy size influences the outcomes of liberalisation policies in the telecommunications sector on company and industry performance. Upon completion of his studies he received a postdoctoral fellowship from the Institute for Strategy, Technology, and Organisation of the University of Munich. As a postdoctoral researcher, he initiated a project that looks into the role of technological convergence in corporate strategy and performance. In addition, he worked on two other projects which revolved around the evolving adoption of marketing strategies by cultural organisations and the role of organisational slack in environmental performance. He has taught at the University of Munich, the University of Cambridge, and the Cyprus International Institute of Management. His teaching portfolio includes courses in the areas of marketing, corporate technological innovation, management in the network industries, and research methods. Part of his research output has been published in the Journal of Communication, in Communication Research, and in Telecommunications Policy. Before embarking on an academic career, Pavlos worked as the marketing manager of a company in Cyprus.
