Antonis Theocharous is Lecturer in the Department of Hotel and Tourism Management. He received his Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Sunderland. He worked in private tertiary education in Cyprus as Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the undergraduate/postgraduate programmes in tourism and hospitality management, and as Director of the Research Centre, for which he secured international recognition. He is national representative of the Programme Committee for Social Sciences and Humanities of the EU's 7th Framework Programme and has also served as national coordinator for two ESFRI projects. His research focuses on the link between political instability and tourism development. He has published in international journals on topics such as political instability and tourism development, cross-cultural examination of the impact of political instability on tourism development at the regional level, various models of tourism destination choice, and mass media depictions of various facets of political instability.
