Andreas Savvides is Professor in the Department of Commerce, Finance and Shipping. He received his undergraduate degree (B.Sc. & B.Com.) in Engineering Production and Economics from the University of Birmingham (U.K.). His completed his postgraduate studies at the University of Florida (U.S.A.) where he received both his M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics with specialization in international finance and economic development. Prior to joining the faculty at CUT, he taught for two decades at Oklahoma State University where he reached the rank of Professor. He has also taught as a visitor at Tulane University, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Cyprus. His research interests are in the areas of financial markets in emerging economies and human capital and economic growth.
