| dc.description | The following project refers to the study of groundwater in Cyprus and the mathematical approach of flow in horizontal underground aquifers. The underground aquifers are a major factor in the water cycle and hydrology in general. The introduction mentioned to the role of water and the second part shows the importance of hydrology and hydrogeological behavior of geological formations. The third chapter refers to the species and the hydraulic characteristics of aquifers. The fourth chapter is a report of the recent situation of water resources in Cyprus as recorded in recent reviews by the competent authorities. Moreover, the terms salinization and nitrate pollution are explained, as the two kinds of impacts on groundwater observed today. The fifth chapter is a reference to the flow equations of groundwater and flow equation in a horizontal aquifer is presented. The sixth and final chapter provides conclusions about the condition of water resources on the island and the impact of human factors in groundwater. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Η παρούσα πτυχιακή εργασία αναφέρεται στη μελέτη των υπογείων υδάτων της Κύπρου καθώς και στην μαθηματική προσέγγιση της ροής σε οριζόντιους υπόγειους υδροφορείς. Οι υπόγειοι υδροφορείς αποτελούν σημαντικό παράγοντα στον κύκλο του νερού και την υδρολογία γενικότερα. Στην εισαγωγή αναφέρεται ο ρόλος του νερού και στο δεύτερο μέρος παρουσιάζεται η σημασία της υδρολογίας και της υδρογεωλογικής συμπεριφοράς γεωλογικών σχηματισμών. Στο τρίτο κεφάλαιο γίνεται αναφορά στα είδη αλλά και στα υδραυλικά χαρακτηριστικά των υδροφορέων. Στο τέταρτο κεφάλαιο γίνεται μια έκθεση της πρόσφατης κατάστασης των υδατικών πόρων στην Κύπρο, όπως έχει καταγραφεί στις πρόσφατες αξιολογήσεις από τις αρμόδιες αρχές. Επιπλέον, επεξηγούνται οι όροι υφαλμύρωση και νιτρορύπανση, ως δύο είδη επιπτώσεων στα υπόγεια νερά που παρατηρούνται σήμερα. Στο πέμπτο κεφάλαιο γίνεται μια αναφορά στις εξισώσεις ροής των υπογείων υδάτων και παρουσιάζεται η εξίσωση ροής σε οριζόντιο υπόγειο υδροφορέα. Στο έκτο και τελευταίο κεφάλαιο δίνονται συμπεράσματα για την κατάσταση των αποθεμάτων νερού στο νησί και οι επιπτώσεις του ανθρώπινου παράγοντα στα υπόγεια ύδατα. | en_US |
