Οι νοσηλευτές στις μονάδες εντατικής θεραπείας βρίσκονται στην πρώτη γραμμή εξεύρεσης δυνητικών δοτών, αφού συχνά καλούνται να νοσηλεύσουν εγκεφαλικά νεκρούς ασθενείς. Είναι σημαντικό να γνωρίζουμε το επίπεδο των γνώσεων των νοσηλευτών σχετικά με τον εγκεφαλικό θάνατο και τη δωρεά οργάνων και κατά πόσο αυτό επηρεάζει τη στάση τους. Κατά συνέπεια η στάση των νοσηλευτών είναι πιθανό να επηρεάζει θετικά ή αρνητικά τη διαδικασία δωρεάς, αφού ως επαγγελματίες υγείας κατέχουν σημαντικό ρόλο στην αλυσίδα της όλης διαδικασίας. | Description: | Hundreds of people die each year in intensive care units from severe brain damage, these people’s organs could have saved many lives, others from certain death and others to greatly improve their quality of life. The nurses in the intensive care units are at the forefront seeking for potential donors since they are often called to treat brain dead patients. It is important to know the level of knowledge of nurses regarding brain death and organ donation and how this affects their position on the matter.
