dc.descriptionINTRODUCTION: The rapid increase of obese children is becoming more and more evident in recent society. Meanwhile, childhood obesity has extremely important implications for public health as it relates with high risk factors for subsequent chronic diseases, such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis, some types of cancer and bad consequences to the individual, which are the main causes of mortality especially in the high developed countries. Various environmental factors and modern lifestyle are significant in increasing the rates of childhood obesity. PURPOSE: The purpose of this research is to investigate the association of childhood obesity with the socio- economic environment. Additionally, it aims in studying the various social, economic and environmental conditions associated with the various changing childhood obesity rates. METHOD: The type of research is systematic review and the data are taken from validly published articles. The search was valid from databases such as the pub mend, the Cinahl and Google scholar. RESULTS: Through my review it is revealed that the socio- economic background of the family plays an important role in childhood obesity. Of the 10 studies in question, the most demonstrated that low socio- economic background results in more overweight / obese children. CONCLUSIONS: Through research it has been found that children belonging to low socio- economic groups are disadvantaged in relation to children who come from middle or high socio- economic groups. As it has been shown, the low socio-economic background of children deprives them of opportunities in regards of obesity which represents the major role of their physical status.en_US
dc.description.abstractΗ ταχεία αύξηση των παχύσαρκων παιδιών γίνεται όλο και πιο αισθητή στη σημερινή κοινωνία. Παράλληλα, η παιδική παχυσαρκία έχει εξαιρετικά σημαντικές επιπτώσεις στη δημόσια υγεία, καθώς σχετίζεται και με υψηλούς παράγοντες κινδύνου για μετέπειτα χρόνιες παθήσεις, όπως αρτηριακή υπέρταση, καρδιαγγειακές παθήσεις, αρτηριοσκλήρωση, κάποιους τύπους καρκίνου και άλλες πολυάριθμες αρνητικές συνέπειες στο άτομο, οι οποίες αποτελούν την κυριότερη αίτια θνησιμότητας, κυρίως στις ανεπτυγμένες χώρες. Οι διάφοροι περιβαλλοντικοί παράγοντες όσο και ο σύγχρονος τρόπος ζωής των παιδιών, είναι ιδιαίτερα σημαντικοί στην αύξηση των ποσοστών της παιδικής παχυσαρκίας. ΣΚΟΠΟΣ: Σκοπός της παρούσας έρευνας είναι να διερευνήσει τη συσχέτιση της παιδικής παχυσαρκίας με το κοινωνικό-οικονομικό υπόβαθρο. Επιπλέον, αναμένεται να μελετήσει τις διαφορές κοινωνικές, οικονομικές και περιβαλλοντικές συνθήκες που σχετίζονται με τα διάφορα μεταβαλλόμενα ποσοστά της παιδικής παχυσαρκίας. ΥΛΙΚΟ-ΜΕΘΟΔΟΣ: Το είδος της έρευνας είναι συστηματική ανασκόπηση, η οποία είναι περιεχτική και οι αναζητήσεις προέρχονται από έγκυρα δημοσιευμένα άρθρα. Η αναζήτηση έγινε από έγκυρες βάσεις δεδομένων όπως είναι το pub mend, το Cinahl και το Google scholar. ΑΠΟΤΕΛΕΣΜΑΤΑ: Μέσα από την ανασκόπηση μου διαφάνηκε ότι το κοινωνικό-οικονομικό υπόβαθρο της οικογένειας διαδραμάτισε σημαντικό ρόλο στην παιδική παχυσαρκία. Από τις 10 έρευνες, οι περισσότερες έδειξαν ότι το χαμηλό κοινωνικό-οικονομικό υπόβαθρο είχε ως αποτέλεσμα περισσότερα υπέρβαρα/παχύσαρκα παιδιά. ΣΥΜΠΕΡΑΣΜΑΤΑ: Μέσα από τις έρευνες έχει διαπιστωθεί ότι τα παιδιά που ανήκουν σε χαμηλές κοινωνικό-οικονομικές ομάδες του πληθυσμού είναι σε μειονεκτικότερη θέση από ότι τα παιδιά τα οποία είναι σε μεσαίες ή υψηλές κοινωνό-οικονομικές ομάδες. Όπως φάνηκε, ο λόγος που τα παιδιά με χαμηλό κοινωνικό-οικονομικό επίπεδο ήταν σε πιο επιβλαβή θέση, περισσότερο λόγω ευκαιριών.en_US
