dc.descriptionΗ εγγραμματοσύνη σε θέματα υγείας (ΕΘΥ) αναφέρεται στις ικανότητες του ατόμου για πρόσβαση, κατανόηση, αξιολόγηση, και εφαρμογή των πληροφοριών σε θέματα υγείας που αφορούν τους τρεις τομείς υγείας, τον τομέα της φροντίδας υγείας, τον τομέα της πρόληψης της ασθένειας, και τον τομέα της προαγωγής της υγείας. Στην περίπτωση των παιδιών, η ΕΘΥ των γονέων είναι σημαντική στην ανάπτυξη συμπεριφορών προαγωγής της υγείας και καλύτερων αποτελεσμάτων ή εκβάσεων για την υγεία τους. Κάποιοι παράγοντες έχουν συσχετιστεί με την εμβολιαστική διστακτικότητα και την κατάχρηση στα αντιβιοτικά φάρμακα, τα οποία αποτελούν δύο αυξανόμενα προβλήματα που επηρεάζουν τη δημόσια υγεία. dc.description.abstractHealth literacy (HL) refers to people’s competencies in accessing, understanding, appraising, and applying health information to meet demands in healthcare, preventing illness, and promoting health. In the case of children, parental HL is important in establishing health-promoting behaviors and better health outcomes. Several factors have been associated with vaccination hesitancy (VH) and antibiotic misuse, two increasing public health problems. HL may influence parental knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) towards antibiotic use and vaccination in their children. Assessing parental beliefs and attitudes is important in understanding current practices and developing targeted responses.en_US
