| dc.description | Introduction: The traumatic brain injuries constitute a significant medical, public, and social problem globally. Hypothermic therapy has emerged as a potentially lifesaving treatment for the care of critically ill patients. Hypothermic therapy is performed by reducing the body temperature to around 32°C - 34°C. Usually, this process lasts about 24 hours. Aim: The purpose of this study is to investigate the evaluation of the relationship between therapeutic hypothermia and survival after traumatic brain injury, and the neurological outcome of survivors. Material and Method: The method used was the search of relevant Greek and international literature in databases (PubMed, Cochrane, and Embase) using keywords (Traumatic brain injury) and (Therapeutic hypothermia) in all possible combinations. Results: The search resulted in 4 studies, during the period 2012-2023, that met the predetermined criteria. Through the literature search, it was found that there are no statistically significant benefits for therapeutic hypothermia in patients with traumatic brain injury. Conclusions: With the use of therapeutic hypothermia, it appeared that there was no statistically significant difference between the patients who were treated and those who were not. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Εισαγωγή: Οι τραυματικές βλάβες του εγκεφάλου αποτελούν σημαντικό ιατρικό, δημόσιο και κοινωνικό πρόβλημα παγκοσμίως. Η θεραπευτική υποθερμία έχει αναδειχθεί ως μια δυνητικά σωτήρια θεραπεία για τη φροντίδα των βαρέως πασχόντων. Η χρήση της θεραπευτικής υποθερμίας γίνεται με τη θερμοκρασία του σώματος να μειώνεται γύρο στους 32 °C - 34 °C. Συνήθως η διαδικασία αυτή διάρκεια περίπου 24 ώρες. Σκοπός: Σκοπός της παρούσας μελέτης είναι να διερευνηθεί η αξιολόγηση της σχέσης μεταξύ της θεραπευτικής υποθερμίας και της επιβίωσης μετά από τραυματική εγκεφαλική βλάβη, και το νευρολογικό αποτέλεσμα των επιζώντων. Υλικό και Μέθοδος: Η μέθοδος που χρησιμοποιήθηκε ήταν η αναζήτηση της σχετικής ελληνικής και διεθνούς βιβλιογραφίας σε βάσεις δεδομένων (PubMed, Cochrane και Embase) με λέξεις κλειδιά (Traumatic brain injury) και (Therapeutic hypothermia) σε όλους τους πιθανούς συνδυασμούς. Αποτελέσματα: Η αναζήτηση κατέληξε σε 4 μελέτες, κατά την περίοδο 2012-2023, που πληρούσαν τα προκαθορισμένα κριτήρια. Μέσα από την αναζήτηση της βιβλιογραφίας διαπιστώθηκε πως δεν υπάρχουν στατιστικά σημαντικά οφέλη για την θεραπευτική υποθερμία σε ασθενής με τραυματικές βλάβες του εγκεφάλου. Συμπεράσματα: Με τη χρήση της θεραπευτικής υποθερμίας φάνηκε ότι δεν υπάρχει στατιστικά σημαντική διαφορά στους ασθενείς που τους εφαρμόστηκε και σε αυτούς που δεν εφαρμόστηκε. | en_US |
