Η μία μονάδα βρίσκεται στην επαρχία Λευκωσίας στην περιοχή Ποταμιάς, η οποία έχει μόνο πρόβατα της φυλής Χίου. Η άλλη μονάδα βρίσκεται στην επαρχία Λάρνακας, στην Αθηένου και έχει πρόβατα αποκλειστικά της φυλής Ασσάφ. Οι πληροφορίες πάρθηκαν μέσω ημιδομημένων συνεντεύξεων στους ιδιοκτήτες – διαχειριστές των δύο μονάδων. Δόθηκαν στοιχεία για τη διαχείριση των προβάτων από την ημέρα της γέννησης τους σχετικά με την διαχείριση που ακολουθείται, την διατροφή τους, το πρόγραμμα εμβολιασμών τους, τη διαδικασία αρμέγματος, την περίοδο γαλουχίας και απογαλακτισμού καθώς και για τη διαδικασία αναπαραγωγής. Με την ανάλυση και τη σύγκριση των δύο μονάδων, προκύπτουν διαφορές οι οποίες έχουν σημαντικό ρόλο στην λειτουργία της μονάδας, στο φόρτο εργασίας αλλά και στα οικονομικά. Σκοπός της έρευνας είναι η περιγραφή και η συγκριτική ανάλυση των μεθόδων εκτροφής που ακολουθούνται στις δύο μονάδες. | Description: | In the context of this thesis, two modern conventional sheep farms in Cyprus are described. One farm is located in the province of Nicosia in the Potamia region, which only has sheep of the Chios breed. The other farm is located in the province of Larnaca, in Athienou and has sheep exclusively of the Assaf breed. The information was obtained through semi-structured interviews with the owners-managers of the two farms. Information was given on the management of the sheep from the day of their birth, regarding the management followed, their diets, vaccination program, the milking process and included the breeding process. By analyzing and comparing the two farms, differences emerge which have an important role in the farm's operation, workload and finances.
