| dc.description | Automatic Identification System (AIS) is an automated monitoring system for ships and ship traffic services. The information provided by the AIS equipment includes, inter alia, the position, direction, and speed of ships, enabling the shipping authorities to locate and monitor their movements. AISafety is an existing vessel monitoring platform implemented at Cyprus University of Technology, which sends alerts for incoming and outgoing vessels from various areas of interest, as well as for any potential collisions between vessels. This work introduces three main enhancements to the current inner workings of the platform. The first one involves upgrading the graphical web interface so that the size, direction, and route of the ships are displayed on the map in real time and size. The second improvement is to optimize the algorithm for identifying ships entering and leaving predefined areas of interest and account for faulty or inaccurate AIS signals. The last enhancement relates to improving the accuracy of the vessel collision detection algorithm by taking into account the timing of the vessels approaching the point of closed encounter. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Το Automatic Identification System(AIS) είναι ένα αυτόματο σύστημα παρακολούθησης πλοίων και υπηρεσιών κυκλοφορίας πλοίων. Οι πληροφορίες που παρέχονται από τον εξοπλισμό AIS περιλαμβάνουν, μεταξύ άλλων, τη θέση, την κατεύθυνση και την ταχύτητα των πλοίων, επιτρέποντας στις ναυτιλιακές αρχές να εντοπίζουν και να παρακολουθούν τις κινήσεις τους. Το AISafety είναι μια υπάρχουσα πλατφόρμα παρακολούθησης σκαφών που εφαρμόζεται στο Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου, η οποία στέλνει ειδοποιήσεις για εισερχόμενα και εξερχόμενα πλοία από διάφορες περιοχές ενδιαφέροντος, καθώς και για ενδεχόμενες συγκρούσεις μεταξύ σκαφών. Αυτή η εργασία εισάγει τρεις βασικές βελτιώσεις στις τρέχουσες εσωτερικές λειτουργίες της πλατφόρμας. Η πρώτη περιλαμβάνει την αναβάθμιση της γραφικής διεπαφής ιστού έτσι ώστε το μέγεθος, η κατεύθυνση και η διαδρομή των πλοίων να εμφανίζονται στον χάρτη σε πραγματικό χρόνο και μέγεθος. Η δεύτερη βελτίωση είναι η βελτιστοποίηση του αλγορίθμου για τον εντοπισμό πλοίων που εισέρχονται και εξέρχονται από προκαθορισμένες περιοχές ενδιαφέροντος και να λαμβάνεται υπόψη για ελαττωματικά ή ανακριβή σήματα AIS. Η τελευταία βελτίωση σχετίζεται με τη βελτίωση της ακρίβειας του αλγόριθμου ανίχνευσης σύγκρουσης σκαφών λαμβάνοντας υπόψη τον χρόνο των σκαφών που πλησιάζουν το σημείο κλειστής συνάντησης. | en_US |
