dc.descriptionThe intensification of farming practices led to the widespread use of pesticides and to an associated increase in the environmental impacts and public health effects of agriculture. To assess and monitor the effects of farming practices on the environment, the European Commission proposed a group of 28 agro-environmental indicators. The Agro-Environmental Indicator 6 (Consumption of Pesticides - AEI 6) aims at monitoring the use of pesticides in agricultural fields. The current study evaluated the use of pesticides in vineyards of Cyprus and estimated AEI 6. In addition, commonly used pesticides were ranked according to the risks posed to the environment and alternatives were proposed for high-risk products.en_US
dc.description.abstractΜε την εντατικοποίηση της γεωργίας παρουσιάστηκε αύξηση στη χρήση φυτοπροστατευτικών ουσιών με αποτέλεσμα τη μεγαλύτερη επιβάρυνση του περιβάλλοντος αλλά και της υγείας των καταναλωτών και των γεωργών. Για τη μελέτη και τη μείωση των δυσμενών επιπτώσεων της γεωργίας στο περιβάλλον και στον άνθρωπο η Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή πρότεινε μια δέσμη 28 αργο-περιβαλλοντικών δεικτών με τους οποίους θα παρακολουθούνται οι επιπτώσεις της γεωργίας στο περιβάλλον. Ένας από τους αγροπεριβαλλοντικούς δείκτες οποίος αφορά στη χρήση φυτοπροστατευτικών προϊόντων είναι ο αγροπεριβαλλοντικός δείκτης (Agro-Environmental Indicator - AEI) 6 (Consumption of pesticides). Στην παρούσα πτυχιακή εργασία προσδιορίστηκε η χρήση των φυτοπροστατευτικών προϊόντων στους Κυπριακούς αμπελώνες και υπολογίστηκε αναλυτικά ο αγρο-περιβαλλοντικός δείκτης “ΑEI 6”. Επιπρόσθετα αναλύθηκε η επικινδυνότητα των πιο συχνά χρησιμοποιούμενων ομάδων δραστικών ουσιών και προτάθηκαν εναλλακτικές λύσεις.en_US
