Ένα υλικό το οποίο ο άνθρωπος χρησιμοποιεί για την στέγαση του από τα βάθη των αιώνων, αλλά ταυτόχρονα, μπορεί να ανταγωνιστεί τα πιο σύγχρονα και σύνθετα δομικά υλικά, τόσο σε αντοχές αλλά και σε θέματα αισθητικής. Ένα υλικό, που παρά τις ευεργετικές ιδιότητες του που προσφέρει στον τομέα των κατασκευών, πολλοί αρνούνται να κατανοήσουν την αξία του και το υποτιμούν. Σκοπός της συγγραφής της πτυχιακής αυτής είναι να δώσει την ευκαιρία στον αναγνώστη, να έρθει κοντά σε ένα σπουδαίο δομικό υλικό, που πολλές φορές λόγω της έλλειψης πληροφοριών ή της ελλιπούς ενημέρωσης που έχουμε για ένα υλικό είναι πιθανό να χάσουμε την ευκαιρία να το γνωρίσουμε να το χρησιμοποιήσουμε. Μέσα στις επόμενες σελίδες, θα δούμε την δομή του ξύλου, καθώς και τις ιδιότητες, τα πλεονεκτήματα και μειονεκτήματα που προέρχονται από αυτή. Στη συνέχεια θα γίνει μια σύντομη περιγραφή των ειδών ξυλείας και προϊόντων που συναντάμε στο εμπόριο, καθώς και τους τρόπους που το ξύλο μπορεί να αποτελέσει τον φέροντα οργανισμό ενός κτιρίου. Ακόμα, θα γίνει λεπτομερείς περιγραφή της διαδικασίας κατασκευής, ενός κτιρίου με πυκνό και ελαφρύ ξύλινο σκελετό (light timber frame). Μέσα από την περιγραφή θα δίνονται κατασκευαστικές λεπτομέρειες για την ακεραιότητα και μακροζωία του κτιρίου μας. Με παραδείγματα, προσωπικές μου εμπειρίες, διηγήσεις από ικανούς μάστορες και έμπιστες έρευνες και εικόνες, θα προσπαθήσω να κάνω τον αναγνώστη να εμπιστευθεί το ξύλο, στην περίπτωση ανέγερσης του κτιρίου του. | Description: | This dissertation was written due to the intense and particular interest caused the last two years by a specific material, which is wood. It is a material that human uses for housing since the ancient times, but at the same time it can compete with the most contemporary and complex materials, both in durability and aesthetics. Despite its beneficial properties in the field of construction, wood is been underestimated by people who refuse to understand its value. The purpose of this dissertation is to give the reader the opportunity to learn more about this great building material. Unfortunately, lack of information or not enough knowledge about a material usually prevent people from getting to know it and use it. In the following pages, we will look at the structure of timber, as well as its properties, advantages and disadvantages of it. Then, we will give a brief description of the types of wood and products we can find at the market , as well as the ways in which wood can be the supporting structure of a building. Furthermore, a detailed description of the construction process of a building will be made, both with dense and light timber frame. The description will provide the reader with construction details for the integrity and longevity of our building.
