| dc.description | One of the problems plaguing the international community is food waste. Based on the relative bibliography, approximately 40% of the United States of America’s food production ends up as waste. The fact that there is a global complication with food waste to a large extent, raises concerns about the local status of this problem and its effective management. The aim of this study is to address the problem of food waste at a local level. Through the objectives of this research, the problem will be clearly understood, with an aim to propose a digital solution to help eliminate and/or improve food waste in Cyprus. Furthermore, the purpose of the research is also to find the right design process for the creation of a prototype application that can be used as one of many possible solutions to the problem. In the final stage of the research (design and development), the design will follow a user-centered approach to design a prototype application solution that is driven by the goal to help combat and/or solve the above-mentioned problem. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Ένα από τα προβλήματα που ταλανίζει τη διεθνή κοινότητα αποτελεί η σπατάλη και τα απόβλητα τροφίμων. Βάση της σχετικής βιβλιογραφίας, περίπου 40% της Αμερικανικής παραγωγής στον τομέα τροφίμων, καταλήγει ως απόβλητα. Το γεγονός λοιπόν ότι σε παγκόσμιο επίπεδο υπάρχει πρόβλημα με τα απόβλητα τροφίμων σε μεγάλο βαθμό, εντείνει τις ανησυχίες για το τοπικό πλαίσιο στο οποίο βρισκόμαστε και τη διαχείριση αυτού. H παρούσα έρευνα έχει σκοπό να ασχοληθεί με το πρόβλημα της σπατάλης τροφίμων και τα απόβλητα που δημιουργεί σε τοπικό επίπεδο. Μέσω της έρευνας θα γίνει κατανόηση του προβλήματος και θα προταθεί ψηφιακή λύση που βοηθά στην καταπολέμηση, ή/και βελτίωση του επιπέδου σπατάλης τροφίμων στην Κύπρο. Σκοπός της έρευνας είναι επίσης, η εύρεση σωστής διαδικασίας σχεδιασμού μιας πρωτότυπης εφαρμογής που μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθεί ως μια από τις προτάσεις για την αντιμετώπιση του προβλήματος. Κατά το τελικό στάδιο της έρευνας (σχεδιασμός και ανάπτυξη), θα εφαρμοστεί διαδικασία ανθρωποκεντρικού σχεδιασμού για την ανάπτυξη πρωτότυπης διαδικτυακής λύσης η οποία υποκινείται από τον στόχο να συμβάλει στην καταπολέμηση ή/και λύση του προβλήματος που προαναφέρθηκε. | en_US |
