Ερευνάται η αυτοπροσωπογραφία ως έκφραση της ανθρώπινης ύπαρξης, της αυτοβιογραφίας, του φύλου και της ταυτότητας της Kahlo ως μοντέρνου εικαστικού καλλιτέχνη. Σκοπός της διατριβής είναι να δειχθεί, πρώτον, ότι η αυτοπροσωπογραφία στο έργο της Kahlo αποτελεί ένα εργαλείο αυτογνωσίας και μια μορφή έκθεσης αυτού που η ίδια αισθανόταν ότι ήταν η εσωτερική της πραγματικότητα και η ύπαρξή της εν γένει και που επιθυμούσε να προβάλλει εικαστικά μέσω του έργου της. Δεύτερον, ότι αποτελεί ένα βασικό δομικό στοιχείο της ίδιας της αυτοβιογραφίας της, της έκφρασης του φύλου της, του status της και της καλλιτεχνικής της ταυτότητας. | Description: | The present thesis is a survey of self-portraiture as a form of autobiography in Frida Kahlo’s work. It explores self-portraiture as an expression of the human existence, the autobiography, the gender and the identity of the visual artist. This study’s primary aim is to show that self-portraiture in Kahlo’s work is a tool for self-knowledge and a form of exposure of what she herself felt was her inner reality and existence in general and of what she projected aesthetically through her work.
