dc.descriptionThe Semantic Sector is one of the four areas in which you distinguish the child's language system. The rate of development of semantic knowledge in children also varies, as it depends on the development of other individual areas. Also, the expected level of semantic knowledge in children by age differs from language to language. For this reason, the evaluation of semantic knowledge to identify any language disorder should be based on the norms that have been derived from the evaluation of typically developing children of the same language population. The aim of this work is to create norms in the Expressive Vocabulary Test and the "Vocabulary" scale of Athena's test in Cypriot children, so that the research data can be graded and compared with the corresponding age-appropriate language levels of Cypriot children. Methodology: The main means for the implementation of the research is the administration of two evaluation tests, the Expressive Vocabulary Test and the "Vocabulary" scale of the Athena test. The specific assessment tools were given to 62 Cypriot children (30 girls and 32 boys) aged 5-10, who are speakers of the Cypriot variety or bilingual with one of the two spoken languages, Cypriot. Results: The results of this research showed that age can determine the increase in children's vocabulary and semantic knowledge. Also, the contribution of continuous learning of new words for the development of semantic knowledge was found. Performance on both scales remains low even in older children. Subsequently, it was observed that participants performed better in the Expressive Vocabulary Test, compared to the Athena Test vocabulary scale. Finally, it was found that children have more semantic knowledge of words that belong to the category of nouns, then verbs and end adjectives. Conclusion: The findings of my research form the basis for future research.en_US
dc.description.abstractΟ Σημασιολογικός τομέας αποτελεί ένα από τους τέσσερις τομείς στους οποίους διακρίνετε το γλωσσικό σύστημα του παιδιού. Ο ρυθμός ανάπτυξης της σημασιολογικής γνώσης στα παιδιά διαφέρει και ποικίλοι, καθώς εξαρτάται από την ανάπτυξη και άλλων επιμέρους τομέων. Επίσης, το αναμενόμενο επίπεδο της σημασιολογικής γνώσης στα παιδιά ανά ηλικία, διαφέρει από γλώσσα σε γλώσσα. Για αυτό το λόγο η αξιολόγηση της σημασιολογικής γνώσης για τον εντοπισμό οποιασδήποτε γλωσσικής διαταραχής θα πρέπει να γίνεται με βάση της νόρμες που έχουν εξαχθεί από την αξιολόγηση τυπικά αναπτυσσόμενων παιδιών του ίδιου γλωσσικού πληθυσμού. Στόχος της παρούσας εργασίας, είναι η δημιουργία νορμών στην Δοκιμασία Εκφραστικού Λεξιλογίου και της κλίμακας «Λεξιλόγιο» του Αθηνά τεστ σε κυπριόπουλα παιδιά, ώστε τα δεδομένα της έρευνας να μπορούν να βαθμολογηθούν και να συγκριθούν με τα ανάλογα ηλικιακά γλωσσικά επίπεδα κυπριόπουλων παιδιών. Μεθοδολογία: Το κύριο μέσο για την υλοποίηση της έρευνας είναι η χορήγηση δυο δοκιμασιών αξιολόγησης, την Δοκιμασία Εκφραστικού Λεξιλογίου και την κλίμακα «Λεξιλόγιο» του Αθηνά τεστ. Τα συγκεκριμένα εργαλεία αξιολόγησης χορηγήθηκαν σε 62 κυπριόπουλα παιδιά (30 κορίτσια και 32 αγόρια) ηλικιακού εύρους 5-10 ετών, τα οποία είναι ομιλητές της Κυπριακής Ποικιλίας ή δίγλωσσα με μια από τις δυο ομιλούμενες γλώσσες την Κυπριακή. Αποτελέσματα: Τα αποτελέσματα της συγκεκριμένης έρευνας κατέδειξαν πως ηλικία μπορεί να καθορίσει την αύξηση της λεξιλογικής ικανότητας και της σημασιολογικής γνώσης των παιδιών. Επίσης, διαπιστώθηκε η συμβολή της συνεχής εκμάθησης καινούργιων λέξεων για την ανάπτυξη της σημασιολογικής γνώσης. Η επίδοση που σημειώθηκε στις δυο κλίμακες αξιολόγησης παραμένει χαμηλή ακόμη και στις μεγάλες ηλικίες των παιδιών. Ακολούθως, παρατηρήθηκε ότι οι συμμετέχοντες παρουσιάζουν μεγαλύτερη επίδοση στην Δοκιμασία Εκφραστικού Λεξιλογίου, έναντι της κλίμακας λεξιλογίου του Αθηνά τεστ. Τέλος, διαπιστώθηκε ότι τα παιδιά παρουσιάζουν μεγαλύτερη σημασιολογική γνώση για τις λέξεις που ανήκουν στην κατηγορία των ουσιαστικών, έπειτα των ρημάτων και τέλος των επιθέτων. Συμπέρασμα: Τα ευρήματα που προκύπτουν από την έρευνα μου αποτελούν την βάση ώστε να διεξαχθούν μελλοντικές έρευνες.en_US
