dc.descriptionThe need to determine tidal levels, and in particular the Mean Sea Level, has been around for a long time. This need existed because people needed a surface reference on which to refer their measurements. The aim of this study is to determine tidal levels in Cyprus for the year 2019. This dissertation thesis consisted of ten chapters. Initially, reference is made to the forces that create the tide as well as to the goals that will be achieved in the context of the dissertation. The second chapter lists and develops basic definitions. Extensive details are also given about the station from which the measurements of the instantaneous sea level were taken as well as the tidal levels and the datums are explained. It also explains the derivative product that will result from the processing, the tide curve. In chapters three and four, is analyzed how the Moon, the Sun and meteorological conditions affect tidal levels. Chapters five and six show some alternative ways to measure sea levels, as well as how tidal levels are monitored abroad. In addition, the chapter seven explain the methodology followed and in chapter eight the results are shown. Finally, in Chapter Nine, the results are interpreted and in Chapter ten the final conclusions are presented according to the issues investigated.en_US
dc.description.abstractΗ ανάγκη για προσδιορισμό των παλιρροιακών επιπέδων και συγκεκριμένα της Μέσης Στάθμης της θάλασσας υπήρχε από τα πολύ παλιά χρόνια. Αυτή η ανάγκη υπήρχε επειδή οι άνθρωποι χρειάζονταν μια επιφάνεια στην οποία θα ανέφεραν τις μετρήσεις τους. Η παρούσα εργασία έχει ως στόχο να προσδιορίσει τα παλιρροιακά επίπεδα στην Κύπρο για το έτος 2019. Η εν λόγω πτυχιακή εργασία αποτελείται από δέκα κεφάλαια. Αρχικά, γίνεται αναφορά στις δυνάμεις που δημιουργούν την παλίρροια καθώς και στους στόχους που θα επιτευχθούν στα πλαίσια της πτυχιακής εργασίας. Στο δεύτερο κεφάλαιο αναφέρονται και αναπτύσσονται βασικοί ορισμοί. Επίσης, δίνονται εκτενείς λεπτομέρειες για το σταθμό από τον οποίο λήφθηκαν οι μετρήσεις της στιγμιαίας στάθμης της θάλασσας καθώς και επεξηγούνται τα παλιρροιακά επίπεδα και οι επιφάνειες αναφοράς. Ακόμα, εξηγείται το παράγωγο αποτέλεσμα που προέκυψε από την επεξεργασία, η καμπύλη παλίρροιας. Στα κεφάλαια τρία και τέσσερα, αναλύονται πως επιδρούν στα παλιρροιακά επίπεδα η Σελήνη, ο Ήλιος αλλά και οι μετεωρολογικές συνθήκες. Στα κεφάλαια πέντε και έξι, παρατίθενται κάποιοι εναλλακτικοί τρόποι μέτρησης της στάθμης της θάλασσας, καθώς και πως παρακολουθούνται τα παλιρροιακά επίπεδα στο εξωτερικό. Συμπληρωματικά, στο κεφάλαιο εφτά επεξηγείται η μεθοδολογία που ακολουθήθηκε και στο κεφάλαιο οκτώ φαίνονται τα αποτελέσματα που προέκυψαν. Τέλος, στο κεφάλαιο εννέα, ερμηνεύονται τα αποτελέσματα και στο κεφάλαιο δέκα παρουσιάζονται τα καταληκτικά συμπεράσματα σύμφωνα με τα θέματα που ερευνήθηκαν.en_US
