dc.descriptionThe purpose of this research is to collect, evaluate and discuss data that is placed in the analysis of the data in order to investigate whether the weather and temperature in particular can affect stock prices and thus their stock market returns. This research in order to be considered as correct and effective in the data it examines, it is divided into two (2) chapters. The first is based on the Theory of the Effective Mark and the Analysis of Weak Form, Semi-Strong Form and Strong Form, as well as the role of Psychology in the Stock Market. The second chapter refers to surveys of whether the weather can affect stock prices in a Market. In the empirical part of this research we will analyze whether the temperature can affect stock market returns. The analysis will be executed through the regression for the S& P 500 index, for the period 1980-2010. We will analyze the 3-factor and 5-factor Fama and French Model for the same period.en_US
dc.description.abstractΣύμφωνα με όσα θα αναφερθούν και θα σχολιαστούν στις ακόλουθες σελίδες της εργασίας, θα λέγαμε πως βασικός σκοπός της εν λόγω μεταπτυχιακής μελέτης, είναι η συλλογή, αξιολόγηση και συζήτηση στοιχείων που τοποθετούνται στο πλαίσιο της ανάλυσης των δεδομένων για το αν ο καιρός και ιδιαίτερα η θερμοκρασία μπορεί να επηρεάσει τις τιμές των μετοχών και κατ' επέκταση των αποδόσεων τους στο χρηματιστήριο. Η εν λόγω εργασία για να θεωρείται ορθή και αποτελεσματική ως προς τα στοιχεία που εξετάζει, διαχωρίζεται σε δύο (2) κεφάλαια. Το πρώτο, το οποίο στηρίζεται στην Θεωρία της Αποτελεσματικής Αγοράς και στην Ανάλυση των Μορφών Weak Form, Semi-Strong Form και Strong Form καθώς και στον ρόλος της Ψυχολογίας στην Χρηματιστηριακή Αγορά και το δεύτερο κεφάλαιο αναφέρεται στις έρευνες για το αν ο καιρός μπορεί να επηρεάσει τις τιμές των μετοχών και κατ' επέκταση την απόδοσή τους στο χρηματιστήριο. Στο εμπειρικό μέρος τις εργασίας θα αναλυθεί αν η θερμοκρασία μπορεί να επηρεάσει τις αποδόσεις στο χρηματιστήριο. Το πρώτο μέρος της ανάλυση θα γίνει μέσω της απλής παλινδρόμησης, για τον δείκτη S&P 500, για την χρονική περίοδο 1980-2010. Στο δεύτερο μέρος της εμπειρικής μελέτης θα γίνει ανάλυση του 3FF και του 5FF για την ίδια περίοδο.en_US
