| dc.description | Introduction: Autism Spectrum Disorder is a large umbrella under in which known developmental disorders are involved. The characteristics of the autism spectrum disorder vary from person to person. So that is why there is a need for the provision and use of services within the field of Augmentative and Alternative Communication in Cyprus. Aims: The aim of this work, was to investigate the areas in which Cypriot speech therapists working in the special education of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus (MoEC) place more emphasis in the process of evaluating people with autism spectrum disorders and are candidates for the use of various techniques and strategies of Augmentative and Alternative Communication. Methodology: The main way for the implementation of the survey was the completion of questionnaires, which included 35 questions with multiple choice answers. This questionnaire was completed by 36 Cypriot speech and language therapists who provide their services to people with autistic spectrum disorders in public schools in Cyprus. Results: The results of this research have shown that most speech and language therapists use their personal experience during the assessment process rather than the various protocols found in the existing literature. Conclusions: A comprehensive and continuous evaluation leads to a sound and effective intervention. It is important for all the experts involved with the individual to put their own leeway for a proper evaluation with the fundamental objective of providing services in the field of AAC, particularly in Cyprus where these services are in the early stages. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Η Διαταραχή Αυτιστικού Φάσματος (ΔΑΦ), αποτελεί μια μεγάλη ομπρέλα κάτω από την οποία περιλαμβάνονται οι γνωστές διάχυτες αναπτυξιακές διαταραχές. Τα χαρακτηριστικά της διαταραχής του αυτιστικού φάσματος, ποικίλλουν και διαφέρουν από άτομο σε άτομο. Γι’ αυτό λοιπόν, υπάρχει η ανάγκη για παροχή και χρήση υπηρεσιών που εντάσσονται στο πεδίο της Επαυξητικής και Εναλλακτικής Επικοινωνίας στην Κύπρο. Στόχος της παρούσας εργασίας, είναι η διερεύνηση των τομέων στους οποίους, οι Κύπριοι λογοθεραπευτές που εργάζονται στην ειδική εκπαίδευση του Υπουργείου Παιδείας και Πολιτισμού (ΥΠΠ), δίνουν περισσότερη έμφαση κατά την διαδικασία αξιολόγησης ατόμων με διαταραχές αυτιστικού φάσματος και είναι υποψήφια για την χρήση διάφορων τεχνικών και στρατηγικών της Επαυξητικής και Εναλλακτικής Επικοινωνίας. Μεθοδολογία: Το κύριο μέσο για την υλοποίηση της έρευνας, αποτέλεσε η συμπλήρωση ερωτηματολογίων, τα οποία συμπεριλάμβαναν 35 ερωτήσεις με πολλαπλής επιλογής απαντήσεις. Το συγκεκριμένο ερωτηματολόγιο, συμπληρώθηκε από 36 Κύπριους λογοθεραπευτές οι οποίοι παρέχουν τις υπηρεσίες τους σε άτομα με διαταραχές αυτιστικού φάσματος, στα δημόσια σχολεία της Κύπρου. Αποτελέσματα: Τα αποτελέσματα της συγκεκριμένης έρευνας, κατέδειξαν πως οι πλείστοι Κύπριοι λογοθεραπευτές, χρησιμοποιούν την προσωπική τους πείρα όσον αφορά την διαδικασία αξιολόγησης κι όχι τα διάφορα πρωτόκολλα που βρίσκονται στην υπάρχουσα βιβλιογραφία. Συμπεράσματα: Αδιαμφησβήτητα, μια ολοκληρωμένη και συνεχής αξιολόγηση οδηγεί σε μια ορθή και αποτελεσματική παρέμβαση. Έτσι, θα πρέπει όλοι οι εμπλεκόμενοι με το άτομο ειδικοί, να βάλουν το δικό τους ληθαράκι για μια ορθή αξιολόγηση με θεμελιώδη στόχο την παροχή υπηρεσιών στο πεδίο της ΕΕΕ ιδιαίτερα στην Κύπρο, όπου οι υπηρεσίες αυτές βρίσκονται σε αρχικά στάδια. | en_US |
