| dc.description | Indicators are a measurement tool of information, which may contribute to the sustainable management of an urban area. A system of indicators at the municipality level should clarify the current situation of the study area and should contribute to the proper function-ing and future management. Urban Sustainability and its monitoring, plays a determining role in decision making and devises various strategies and policies at the global, national, and local level. In recent years, the viability measurement efforts become a complicated process. To harmonise the development planning of a spatial system with the sustainable development, a key methodological tool is the sustainability assessment, of which sus-tainable development indicators are an important part. The implementation of sustainable development indicators aims at providing information to identify weaknesses and strengths in an area to decide on the appropriate policy for achieving sustainable devel-opment. Specifically, the Limassol province was selected for which the existing situation was studied and analysed in the context of sustainable development, in social, economic and environmental dimension. Then, a specific methodology was followed, where the system of urban sustainability indicators at the local level was designed. The indiactors values of the province were being compared to the European values in order to assess the current situation of the study area for the future use of the system by the appropriate designers. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Οι δείκτες αποτελούν ένα εργαλείο μέτρησης πληροφοριών το οποίο δύναται να συμβάλλει στη βιώσιμη διαχείριση μιας αστικής περιοχής. Η παγκόσμια επιστημονική κοινότητα έχει πλέον κατοχυρώσει τη σπουδαιότητα του ρόλου της βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης και της ισορροπίας που αυτή διακυβεύει κυρίως ως προς το σχεδιασμό. Η αστική βιωσιμότητα και η παρακολούθησή της, διαδραματίζει πλέον καθοριστικό ρόλο στη λήψη αποφάσεων καθώς και στη διαμόρφωση διαφόρων στρατηγικών και πολιτικών σε παγκόσμιο, εθνικό και τοπικό επίπεδο. Για την εναρμόνιση του αναπτυξιακού προγραμματισμού ενός χωρικού συστήματος με τη βιώσιμη ανάπτυξη, βασικό μεθοδολογικό εργαλείο αποτελεί η αξιολόγηση της βιωσιμότητας, σημαντικό τμήμα της οποίας είναι τα συστήματα δεικτών βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης. Η εφαρμογή των δεικτών βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης αποσκοπεί στην παροχή πληροφοριών που θα επιτρέπουν τον εντοπισμό αδυναμιών και δυνατών σημείων μιας περιοχής προκειμένου να αποφασιστεί η κατάλληλη πολιτική για την επίτευξη της βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης. Για την επίτευξη του σκοπού αυτού, επιλέχθηκε η επαρχία Λεμεσού για την οποία έγινε μελέτη και ανάλυση της υφιστάμενης κατάστασης στα πλαίσια της βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης δηλαδή σε κοινωνικό, οικονομικό και περιβαλλοντικό επίπεδο. Έπειτα, βάση συγκεκριμένης μεθοδολογίας, σχεδιάστηκε το σύστημα δεικτών αστικής βιωσιμότητας σε τοπικό επίπεδο, με τις τιμές των δεικτών της επαρχίας να συγκρίνονται με τις βιώσιμες τιμές πόλεων ή με τα ευρωπαϊκά όρια με στόχο την αξιολόγηση της υφιστάμενης κατάστασης της περιοχής μελέτης καθώς και τη μελλοντική χρήση του συστήματος από τους κατάλληλους φορείς σχεδιασμού. | en_US |
