| dc.description | This study examines the portrayal of women before and after the Turkish Invasion of 1974, through photographs of the period in the photographic archive of the Press and Information Office (PIO). The main aim of the research is to explore how the portrayal of women changes after 1974 and to seek interpretations of this change in relation to Cypriot society, patriarchy and the political issue of the division of Cyprus. More specifically, research was conducted in the photographic archive of the PIO, through the examination and recording of all photographs from the period 1973-1975 in which one or more women were depicted. These photographs constitute an archive of the photographers working at the PIO at that time. An interview was also conducted with the person in charge of the photographic archive at the PIO. Subsequently, through an extensive literature review, researching previous research, studying articles on the representation of women in the media, the relationship between gender and militarism, feminism and the semiotic analysis of the photographs, the results and conclusions of the research were deduced. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Η παρούσα μελέτη εξετάζει την απεικόνιση των γυναικών πριν και μετά την Τουρκική Εισβολή του 1974, μέσα από φωτογραφίες της εποχής, στο φωτογραφικό αρχείο του Γραφείου Τύπου και Πληροφοριών (ΓΤΠ). Ο κύριος στόχος της έρευνας είναι να διερευνήσει με ποιο τρόπο αλλάζει η παρουσίαση των γυναικών μετά το 1974 και να αναζητήσει ερμηνείες για την αλλαγή αυτή σε σχέση με την κυπριακή κοινωνία, την πατριαρχία και το πολιτικό ζήτημα της διαίρεσης της Κύπρου. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, διεξήχθη έρευνα στο φωτογραφικό αρχείο του ΓΠΤ, μέσα από εξέταση και καταγραφή όλων των φωτογραφιών της περιόδου 1973– 1975 στις οποίες υπήρχε απεικόνιση μιας ή περισσότερων γυναικών. Οι φωτογραφίες αυτές αποτελούν αρχείο των φωτογράφων που εργάζονταν στο ΓΠΤ εκείνη την εποχή. Πραγματοποιήθηκε επίσης συνέντευξη με την υπεύθυνη του φωτογραφικού αρχείου στο ΓΤΠ. Στη συνέχεια, μέσω εκτενούς βιβλιογραφικής ανασκόπησης, ερευνώντας προηγούμενες έρευνες, μελετώντας άρθρα που έχουν ως θέμα τις αναπαραστάσεις γυναικών στα Μέσα Μαζικής Ενημέρωσης, την σχέση ανάμεσα στο φύλο και τον μιλιταρισμό, τον φεμινισμό και της σημειωτικής ανάλυσης των φωτογραφιών γνωστοποιήθηκαν τα αποτελέσματα και τα συμπεράσματα της έρευνας. | en_US |
