| dc.description | The present study examines the aesthetic experience of negative emotional reactions, as well as the enjoyment offered by tragedy and versions of the tragic in contemporary art. The first two chapters discuss the role of various negative emotions in art, focusing on the so-called paradox of tragedy. In the second section, the tragedy "Philoctetes" by Sophocles is presented, as a basic reference in the literature for the paradox of the tragedy, in order to understand various emotional reactions during the aesthetic experience of the viewer. Aristotle's cognitive approach to the paradox of pleasure, which is derived from negative emotional reactions to tragedy, is first examined, and then the philosopher David Hume's views on the transformation of negative emotion into a feeling of pleasure are examined. The approaches of contemporary philosophers such as Susan L. Feagin, Katerina Bantinaki, Carolyn Korsmeyer, Matthew Strohl, Noël Carroll are examined and categorized into three main groups: meta-response theories, conversion theories and hedonic ambivalence theories. In the third section, the emotions of fear and pity evoked by tragedy are related to moral emotions such as compassion. In the last section, references and approaches to moral emotions are made through the views of Immanuel Kant, questioning whether there is a connection between the sublime and the negative emotional responses to tragic arts. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Η κεντρική ιδέα της παρούσης έρευνας αφορά στην εξέταση της αισθητικής εμπειρίας αρνητικών συναισθηματικών αντιδράσεων, καθώς και της απόλαυσης που προσφέρει η τραγωδία και οι εκδοχές του τραγικού στη σύγχρονη τέχνη. Το ακόλουθο δοκίμιο χωρίζεται σε τέσσερις ενότητες, εκ των οποίων τα πρώτα δυο κεφάλαια αφορούν το ρόλο διαφόρων αρνητικών συναισθημάτων στην τέχνη, με επίκεντρο το λεγόμενο παράδοξο της τραγωδίας. Στην δεύτερη ενότητα, παρουσιάζεται εξετάζεται η τραγωδία «Φιλοκτήτης» του Σοφοκλή, ως βασική αναφορά στη βιβλιογραφία για το παράδοξο της τραγωδίας, με σκοπό την κατανόηση ποικίλων συναισθηματικών αντιδράσεων κατά την διάρκεια της αισθητικής εμπειρίας του θεατή. Εξετάζεται αρχικά η γνωσιακή προσέγγιση του Αριστοτέλη για το παράδοξο της ηδονής που αντλείται από τις αρνητικές συναισθηματικές αντιδράσεις στην τραγωδία, ενώ στη συνέχεια μελετώνται οι θέσεις του φιλόσοφου David Hume αναφορικά με την μετατροπή του αρνητικού συναισθήματος σε ένα αίσθημα ηδονής. Μέσα από τις θέσεις σύγχρονων φιλοσόφων, όπως η Susan L. Feagin, η Katerina Bantinaki, η Carolyn Κorsmeyer, o Matthew Strohl, o Noël Carroll, οι προσεγγίσεις στο παράδοξο της τραγωδίας κατηγοροποιούνται σε τρεις βασικές ομάδες: τις θεωρίες μετα-απόκρισης, τις θεωρίες μεταστροφής και τις θεωρίες ηδονικής αμφισημίας. Τα συναισθήματα φόβου και ελέους που προκύπτουν από έργα με επώδυνα συναισθήματα, είναι κεντρικής σημασίας για την τραγωδία, τόσο για την πρόσληψη, όσο και για την αισθητική εμπειρία των θεατών και δημιουργούν ενδεχομένως σκέψεις και προβληματισμούς σχετικά με την σύνδεση ηθικών συναισθημάτων όπως είναι η δικαιοσύνη, η καλοσύνη, η συμπόνια και ο σεβασμός που εν τέλει προκαλούν το αίσθημα ηδονής, τα οποία αναλύονται στην τρίτη ενότητα του δοκιμίου. Στη τελευταία ενότητα, γίνονται αναφορές και προσεγγίσεις ηθικών συναισθημάτων και μέσα από την ενδιαφέρουσα οπτική και αισθητική σκοπιά του Immanuel Kant, θέτοντας το ερώτημα αν όντως υπάρχει κάποια σύνδεση μεταξύ του υψηλού και των αντιδράσεων στην τραγωδία. | en_US |
